Brian Daboll isn’t worried about his job security despite Giants’ 2-10 record so far this season

The Giants' collapsing season boosts their 2025 NFL Draft hopes, but Brian Daboll remains focused on winning the next five games.

The 2024 season appears to be deteriorating even further for the New York Giants, as they marked their seventh consecutive loss in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving day. Contrary to John Mara’s insistence on retaining head coach Brian Daboll, the Giants’ dismal 2-10 season record has certainly placed him on the hot seat. However, he isn’t worried too much.

The blame that could have previously fallen on quarterback Daniel Jones is no longer applicable following his release, leaving head coach Daboll to face scrutiny instead. Even though the game was competed well by the Giants, unlike last week’s match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their seven-game losing streak certainly raises an alarm.

In the post-game press conference, while he expressed disappointment with the outcome of the game, he also conveyed his confidence in the team, believing they have the potential to improve.

I don’t like the results. Nobody likes the results. But I have confidence with the people, just gotta do better

Then, when asked if he’s worried about his future in New York, given that the 2-10 season puts his job on the line, Daboll replied with a stern “No.”

At present, the only hope that the Giants are relying on is the optimistic draft projection. Their collapsing season has increased their chances of acquiring the first overall draft pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. For now, Daboll is aiming to win games for the next five weeks.

What are the potential landing spots for Brian Daboll?

If Giants’ owner Mara indeed decides to move on from head coach Daboll, there are a couple of landing spots for him. First, the New York Jets are looking for a stable head coach after the departure of Robert Saleh. Bringing in Daboll could turn into a great decision, especially in developing Aaron Rodgers, given his history with Josh Allen.

If he succeeds, the Jets can finally end their longest-standing postseason drought of 14 years. Another landing spot is the Chicago Bears, whose head coach Matt Eberflus is also on the hot seat amid the losing 4-8 season.

Better than Rodgers, Daboll would get a promising second-year quarterback in the Windy City next season. As the first overall pick, Caleb Williams possesses immense potential and will benefit from improved coaching to help him develop into a star NFL player.
