Ex-MLB pitcher Brian Matusz passes away at age of 37
On Tuesday, former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz passed away the age of 37, leaving the MLB world in the state of shock.

On Tuesday, the baseball world was left in shock with the sudden passing of Ex-MLB pitcher Brian Matusz. The former Baltimore Orioles star passed away at the age of 37.
In a short MLB career, Matusz spent nearly all of his eight years with the Orioles. He joined the O’s in 2008 as a fourth overall draft pick and appeared in their two postseason appearances in the 2012 and 2014 season. In June 2016, he was signed by the Chicago Cubs on a minor-league deal.
His time at the Cubs did not go well and after a poor showing against the Seattle Mariners, he was designated for assignment. Despite playing in just one official game for them, he did receive a World Series ring from the team after they won the Fall Classic against the Cleveland Guardians.
In 2017, he signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on a minor league contract. Just three months later, he was released from his deal.
He appeared in a total of 280 games in the MLB and had a 27-41 record. He pitched with an ERA of 4.92 while having 462 strikeouts along his name.
Matusz is formerly remembered by the fans for his performances against Hall of Famer David Ortiz. The Dominican slugger had a hard time against him and went 4-for-29 while striking out 13 times when he faced the Orioles pitcher.

Baltimore Orioles mourn the passing of Brian Matusz
The death of Brian Matusz has sent a huge shockwave across the MLB world. Since the news broke out, several fans have paid their condolences to his family and close ones and showered tribute to him. The Baltimore Orioles would release a message on social media and mourned his passing.
In a post on X, the team labeled him as a “staple” in the clubhouse and called him a “cherished teammate“. The O’s shared an image of him visiting sick children in the hospital while helping bring a smile on the young ones.

The cause of his sudden death was not revealed. This has sparked some speculating regarding his death which has ignited a strong response from sports writer Dan Clark. On X, Clark has urged the fans to show respect to Matusz family in this tough time.
