WNBA star, Brittney Griner is slowly making all her wishes come true after a tough time a couple of years ago. The Phoenix Mercury star recently announced expecting a child with wife Cherelle on social media.

After announcing the news in April the couple recently shared a series of photos of their maternity photoshoot. Both parents-to-be could not contain their smiles as they will welcome their first child together next month. The pictures went viral among netizens as the WNBA world congratulated Brittney Griner for the great news.

Griner and wife Cherelle had to go through a difficult period while the Mercury’s center was imprisoned in Russia. Griner even feared that her marriage was at risk as she received the nine-year prison sentence. However, things worked out for the best as Griner was released after ten months in a prison exchange.

Now that the star is safely back, the couple are fulfilling their plans of having kids. Griner also came back on the basketball court last season and is currently at her ‘A’ game for the Mercury. The center is averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the 2024 regular season.

Griner is getting back in the groove as she was also selected to be on Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The center will make her third appearance at the competition while aiming to win her third consecutive gold medal.

While talking to the media, Griner reflected on the opportunity of getting to play for the country. The task is certainly a tough one and a lot is at risk considering the level. However, Griner revealed being excited about the competition.

Griner is the third player of the Mercury to get selected for the roster. Kahleah Copper and Diana Taurasi will also join their teammate Griner and nine others for the trip to Paris to represent the country on an international level.
