Brock Lesnar was supposed to have a sit-down interview with Michael Cole on this week’s SmackDown. ‘The Beast’ wasn’t keen on waiting for his turn, and that made Cole inform the audience that Lesnar had asked to prepone his segment. Just as the long-time commentator was heading to the back, a cowboy-hat-sporting Lesnar entered the arena to a loud ovation.
He lifted Cole on his shoulders and dumped the 56-year-old in the ring. The former UFC ace was absolutely ticked off and about to decimate the ‘Voice of WWE’. Cole was at the mercy of the 10-time world champion, who had his attention diverted when Corey Graves pleaded with him to leave his partner alone. And guess what? It enraged Lesnar even more. He planted Graves with a devastating F-5.
This is CHAOS! 😱

After venting out his frustration, ‘The Conqueror’ got into a camera and warned his Wrestlepalooza opponent John Cena that he’s coming for blood. ‘The Cenation Leader’ wasn’t on the show last night, but he’d kick things off with ‘The Beast Incarnate’ at Wrestlepalooza, as confirmed by Pat McAfee. Circling back to Lesnar’s trail of destruction on SmackDown, he ambled at ringside after stunning Graves and even dismantled the PRIME rack.

‘The Beast’ tried introducing the steel steps into the ring, but several WWE personnel made a beeline to rescue Graves. But did they stand a chance against the menace of Lesnar? The numbers disappeared at once when the 48-year-old pressed them, and he went on to deliver a second F-5 to Graves.
Upon reaching backstage, Lesnar came face-to-face with Paul Heyman and ‘The Vision‘. Lesnar smirked and told Heyman that they needed to talk.
ESPN denies any role in bringing Brock Lesnar back to WWE
It’s a well-known fact that Brock Lesnar returned to WWE at last month’s SummerSlam PLE to assault John Cena. There were no rumblings of his comeback ahead of the show, as the former UFC Heavyweight Champion was already named in Janel Grant’s lawsuit, primarily accusing Vince McMahon. As things stand, Lesnar has yet to be acquitted of the wrongdoings mentioned in Grant’s complaint.

That being said, the decision to bring Lesnar back to the fold has divided the WWE Universe on ethical grounds. Quite recently, Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated partook in a WWE/ESPN media call ahead of Wrestlepalooza.
Alba asked ESPN’s Programming and Acquisitions VP Matt Kenny about lawsuit-facing Lesnar competing on the show that would mark the beginning of ESPN’s $1.6bn agreement with WWE to live stream its PLEs.
ESPN Programming & Acquisitions VP Matt Kenny was asked about Brock Lesnar being on WWE Wrestlepalooza while mentioned in the ongoing lawsuit involving Vince McMahon:

“Our relationship with the WWE is such where they have creative control. I think it’s important to provide some… pic.twitter.com/9n2inVcjZ2
Kenny responded by saying that ESPN doesn’t have any creative control in its partnership with WWE. They are just the distributors of WWE PLEs and are completely fine with WWE retaining complete creative control. The aforementioned higher-up at ESPN added that he isn’t entitled to opine on how WWE should script its programming.
If Kenny’s comments are to be believed, ESPN didn’t ask WWE to specifically get Lesnar featured in such a prominent capacity at Wrestlepalooza. The man whom Lesnar seemingly reconciled with on SmackDown, viz., Paul Heyman, has already defended WWE for calling ‘The Beast’ back despite the legal dilemma he’s in. Heyman told Ariel Helwani on his show that he doesn’t pay much heed to criticism.
Paul Heyman says the “critics” need to get over Brock Lesnar returning and he isn’t going to be cancelled.

The WWE Hall of Famer underscored the thunderous live reaction Lesnar had gotten at SummerSlam to affirm that the paying audience of WWE is excited to see him back. ‘The Oracle’ emphasized that very few people reach the tippy-top in life without either making mistakes or having skeletons in their closet. Heyman asked the critics of Lesnar’s return to get over it.
