‘Focused’ Brock Purdy aspires to be “dominant” next season: “It’s having that Tom Brady kind of feeling”
As the preseason games come closer, Brock Purdy announced that he wants to not just win games but also dominate every opponent he faces in the league.

No one expected “Mr. Irrelavant” Brock Purdy to play for the San Francisco 49ers. However, Purdy defied all the odds by leading the 49ers to back-to-back NFC championships and a Super Bowl appearance.
Even though a section of the football analysts refused to acknowledge him as a top quarterback only because of his humble beginnings, Purdy proved them wrong by topping almost every quarterback skill chart last season. He recorded a 49ers franchise record of 4280 passing yards after recovering from an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow.
Following his first full offseason, Purdy looks jacked with extra muscle, and despite the underlying success story, he wants to go one better. He doesn’t just have the aspirations to win silverware but wants to dominate the league like Patrick Mahomes.
The San Francisco Chronicle’s Michael Silver spoke with Purdy about his goals for 2024.
I want to be dominant. Not just win games and feel like, 'Eh.' I want to be dominant with consistent decisions and feeling like we're the top dogs every day.Brock Purdy said
Despite the overwhelming success of last season, Purdy believed in doing better. After watching tapes of his plays, the Iowa graduate realized that he could have made better decisions in some of the plays.
The 49ers are favorites to reach the Super Bowl once more from the NFC. When asked about the expectations, Purdy expressed clarity of thought.
With as good of a team that we have, I want to get to that point where we get to the third quarter, there's a couple of drives that are crucial, I'm on top of my stuff, we convert on third downs, and we score touchdowns and the lead just gets out of hand. It's having that Tom Brady kind of feeling. Late in the game, it always felt like Tom was just gonna take over and not make it close. I feel like I can get to that.Brock Purdy added
I asked Brock Purdy about his 2024 goals yesterday. His answer wasn't subtle. He wants to be dominant. He wants to be ruthless like Tom Brady. My @sfchronicle @SportingGreenSF column…https://t.co/d1C6r04P6y

An analyst claimed Brock Purdy looks in control of everything
The upcoming season will be a big one and could possibly decide Purdy’s actual value. Perhaps a full offseason’s training has given him the confidence he lacked in the previous years.
Purdy did not see his name in a recent poll on the best quarterbacks that appeared to have lit a fire under him.
[Brock] Purdy just seems to be in total command now. Even with [Nick] Bosa in his face repeatedly, Purdy is making quick decisions that he believes in and getting the ball where it needs to go.ESPN’s Nick Wagoner said per Coach Yac on X (formerly Twitter)

“Perhaps it's because he had the full offseason healthy, maybe it's just his experience or both but Purdy just seems to be in total command now. Even with Bosa in his face repeatedly, Purdy is making quick decisions that he believes in and… pic.twitter.com/ozWBnwX2j3
A lot is riding on him performing at the same high level as last season. After that, the 49ers would have to negotiate with him for a new contract because he is currently one of the lowest earners in the NFL.
