Brock Purdy doesn’t even rank inside the top 100 highest-paid quarterbacks list despite leading 49ers to Super Bowl last season
Purdy is still playing on his rookie contract and earns less than $1 million per year.

Leader, cannon-for-an-arm, high football IQ, aplomb, are all great adjectives to describe Brock Purdy. There is another term that should be used to describe him, and that is the term ‘handsomely paid’. Despite having a resume better than most franchise quarterbacks in the NFL in his first two seasons as a starter, Purdy is yet to reap the financial perks that a QB of his stature deserves.
Drafted in 2022, Brock Purdy is playing in the penultimate year of his four-year $3.7 million rookie deal. He is realistically earning under $1 million per year living in the Bay Area.
Let’s compare that to the deals his peers have. Amongst the top 10 highest-paid QBs in the NFL, just three of them have made at least one Super Bowl in their career. Those players are Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Patrick Mahomes.
Shockingly, he is not even amongst the top 100 highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Ridiculous to think about, is it not? Some QBs who have not played a single game in the 2023-24 season rank higher than him on the pay scale, take Trey Lance, Carson Wentz, Case Keenum, and Easton Stick, all earn more than Purdy does as per data of Over The Cap.
When will the San Francisco 49ers offer an extension to Brock Purdy?
The quarterback is not focused on his contract at the moment. His priority is to lead the San Francisco 49ers to yet another Super Bowl and win it this time. Besides, Purdy understands that by negotiating an extension of this free agency, he would be undervaluing himself.

The team is already in a tough situation as it is struggling to keep its star wide receivers. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have reached a stalemate in Brandon Aiyuk’s negotiations. Apart from that, the team just offered Christian McCaffrey a two-year extension. This would ensure that following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Brock Purdy would be the primary person whose contract the team would be concentrating on.
The 49ers hit the lottery with Purdy. It is rare to find a franchise quarterback who puts himself on the back burner and prioritizes team success over individual success. Despite the success he has achieved, he continues to be overlooked by critics. The only thing remaining for Mr. Irrelevant to accomplish is to win a Super Bowl. It would be a cherry on top as he heads to the negotiation table.
