Brock Purdy recently experienced the first taste of parenthood. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback welcomed his first child, a daughter named Millie Joleen, with his wife and best friend, Jenna (Brandt) Purdy.
Purdy’s perspective on life changed after Millie’s birth. Up until her birth, Purdy’s primary goal in life was to make people recognize him as a top quarterback in the NFL.
The 25-year-old’s goal hasn’t changed; he’s only taken a detour. Now, Purdy’s every decision revolves around how it will affect his daughter’s upbringing and future.
I get to go home to my wife [Jenna] and our little baby, and to be able to raise her up in this world, and obviously you want to teach her all the good things, and for everything to go perfect, but it’s handling all of that and then coming here and working and playing football… I’m still learning, but my heart is big right now and I’m just so thankful.
Brock Purdy said during a recent episode of the Rich Eisen Show
Purdy was going through a tense period involving his contract extension. The San Francisco 49ers had every intention of keeping the Pro Bowler as their starter, but Purdy played hardball with the organization.
After months of negotiation, both parties agreed on a five-year, $265 million contract extension ($53 million per year). Even though it wasn’t exactly what Purdy’s agents pushed for, Purdy seemed relieved that the process was finally over.
[It shows] they are putting their faith and trust in me to lead the organization and be the guy that can help take us to new heights. Obviously, we are chasing the sixth Super Bowl ring for the org, and for them to pay me… they’re putting faith and trust in me to go and do it. That’s my goal.

For a while, there were murmurs that the 49ers might decide against paying Purdy because of his poor numbers in 2024. Despite completing 65% of his passes, Purdy threw 20 touchdowns, 12 picks, and fumbled the ball 7 times.
Purdy lacked the free-flowing football that put him on the map. Without star players such as Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and Trent Williams on the team to support him, Purdy looked out of his depth.
Fortunately for the 49ers, all three of them are returning for the new season, except Deebo Samuel, who left for Washington. There’s concern about Aiyuk’s availability. He is still in rehab from his LCL surgery but remains on track to return by week one.
49ers add a new receiver to help Brock Purdy
Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch always keep their eyes and ears open for talent. They found one in the free agency.

According to reports, the Niners signed wide receiver Robbie Chosen to add depth to the roster. Chosen spent time with the Niners back in 2024 but was released during the 53-man roster cut.

Purdy could make good use of Chosen’s pace if he manages to survive the roster cut this year. Chosen, an undrafted wideout, began his NFL journey with the New York Jets and then bounced around from the Carolina Panthers to the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins.
After the Niner released Chosen in 2024, the Dolphins picked him up. He played 9 games, caught 4 passes for 126 yards, and scored one touchdown.
The 49ers begin their 2025 journey by facing divisional opponents. They are set to play against the Seattle Seahawks, who have a new starting quarterback in Sam Darnold.
