With the NFL quarterback market flourishing this offseason, the anticipation regarding Brock Purdy’s contract has heightened. After leading his team to the Super Bowl game last season, while dominating the NFC altogether, the San Francisco 49ers are expecting the quarterback to demand a record-breaking deal.

For the upcoming 2024 season, the 49ers are the favorite to win the Super Bowl with Purdy in the lead. If that happens, the star quarterback will certainly become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, if not the highest. But one analyst recently claimed that Purdy’s extension will break all records

NFL insider Bill Barnwell dedicated an article published on ESPN on July 25, to the 49ers’ star quarterback’s extension, predicting he could get a massive $300+ million extension if he successfully led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2024.

If he continues this level of play, my best estimate is that a Purdy deal would come in around five years and $325 million, for an average of $65 million per season. It's always possible the quarterback could take some semblance of a reduced salary to try to make life easier for his team, but after making just $2.6 million over the first three years of his existing deal, I'm not sure why he would be willing to cut the 49ers any slack.
Bill Barnwell wrote on his ESPN column

If Barnwell’s prediction comes true after the Niners win the Vince Lombardi trophy in 2025, Purdy will become the highest-paid quarterback in the league’s history with no other quarterback even close to him. Given, the highest at present is Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, and Joe Burrow with an annual earning of $55 million.

49ers’ former legend expresses concern over tight Super Bowl window for Brock Purdy

Even though the 2024 season will be Purdy’s third year in the NFL and given his previous two seasons’ record, he has been progressing very well. A former 49ers’ legend Patrick Willis predicted the 2024 season is anticipated to be the third-year quarterback’s last chance at the Super Bowl

It kind of looks like this could be the last go around. So, I’m really hoping they can get it done this year for everyone.

Willis stated he even thought that the 2023 season was the final season for the team. Despite the expert analysis, at the end of the day, it’s in the hands of the quarterback and his team to decide whether it will be the last chance or not.
