This year was the one where Brock Purdy was supposed to go out there and prove he is as good a quarterback even when not surrounded with elite talent around him in San Francisco. So far, he has not had much success doing that. Through 7 weeks, the 49ers are 3-4 and lost the biggest game of their season to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In a repeat of Super Bowl LVIII, Brock Purdy and the 49ers were expected to go in and dominate but the quarterback wound up having one of the worst nights of his career. He had 212 yards and three interceptions for zero touchdowns.
After Sunday night’s loss, the quarterback took full accountability for his performance.
All three of his turnovers were entirely his fault because he made the wrong decision under pressure. Purdy managed to score two rushing touchdowns, but he turned the ball over frequently and failed to get the offense into rhythm early on.

The quarterback began to get restless to get the offense going. This was a bad move as it encouraged him to make unwise decisions and eventually caused the interceptions.
The night was challenging for San Francisco before kickoff itself because wide receiver Jauan Jennings was out due to a hip injury and Deebo Samuel was not well enough to step onto the field.
Things took a turn for the worse when Brandon Aiyuk left the game with a suspected ACL injury which could keep him out for the remainder of this season. Purdy’s go-to targets were all injured. However, the quarterback had opportunities on offense wherein he could have capitalized upon, but was unable to.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan was infuriated with Purdy and had a one-on-one talk with him that allegedly lasted over five minutes discussing his performance. It is bad when the HC does not want to wait until the next day to talk about all that went wrong.
It was far from Brock Purdy‘s best day on Sunday, but on the positive side, he has had bad performances in the past and has been able to get through them and bounce back. Next week, the San Francisco 49ers take on the Dallas Cowboys before they head into a bye week.
