The San Francisco 49ers went into Week 3 with their key players Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Deebo Samuel sitting on the sidelines owing to injuries. They were short-staffed, but still had good weapons on offense in Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings. Despite losing the close-fought matchup against the Los Angeles Rams by three points, the 49ers witnessed greatness from one of their wide receivers.

It was Jauan Jennings‘ night. The wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers had a phenomenal outing as he scored three touchdowns and had 11 receptions for 175 yards. Quarterback Brock Purdy recognized Jennings’ talent and gave him props despite the team’s heartbreaking loss.

In the post-game press conference, Brock Purdy emphasized how the 49ers’ offense is better with Jennings on it.

He's a dog man. Absolutely love Jauan. It's the way he comes in every day and brings energy to our offense with some huge plays and sparks energy and just his love for the game; You can see it, you can feel it when you're on the field with him. I absolutely love that guy, I'll go to war with him any day.

If not for Jennings, the 49ers would have struggled all night. With his performance on Sunday night, he proved that he is worthy of being the first option at the wide receiver position.

Jauan Jennings outplayed Brandon Aiyuk against the Rams

He played better than Brandon Aiyuk who was expected to step up to the plate but managed to have just 48 yards on five receptions. Jennings’ breakout performance was not unexpected.

The seventh-round pick out of Tennessee has served as the team’s best outside run blocker in his tenure with the 49ers. He signed a two-year contract with the 49ers this offseason and is set to remain in the Bay Area through 2025.

He has the clutch gene within him. Whenever the 49ers have needed him to show up, he has done so. In Super Bowl LVIII, had the Kansas City Chiefs lost, Jennings would have undisputedly been declared as the MVP of the game.

The wideout had four catches for 42 yards, one touchdown, and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey. Safe to say, he thrives under pressure.

As the 49ers struggle to get their stars back together in an injury-riddled season, with Jennings’ presence on the field, Brock Purdy can remain assured that he will have a reliable wide receiver to throw to. San Francisco will face the New England Patriots next Monday.
