Bron Breakker pinned CM Punk on Saturday at Survivor Series to win the WarGames match for his team. It really was the biggest scalp of his burgeoning career. And consequently, the 28-year-old will take on ‘The Best in the World’ for the World Heavyweight title on the first Raw of 2026 at the Barclays Center in New York, which will also mark the first anniversary of the red brand’s debut on Netflix.
The match was formally announced by Paul Heyman on this week’s Raw following a backstage conversation with general manager Adam Pearce. After the Vision’s manager did his part, he handed over the microphone to Breakker and let him do all the talking.
‘The Unpredictable Badass’ started off by saying he was upset, but not because of the city he was in or due to that masked creature trying to steal his thunder in the WarGames match. Breakker was upset, or even more so disappointed in the fact of how easy it was to get the three count on the man he grew up watching, CM Punk.

🏆 WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

The former Intercontinental Champion said he thought he’d have to dig deep into his arsenal to tackle Punk, only for Breakker to stand across from him and realize that the ‘Second City Saint’ was nothing but a “soft a** bit*h.” The Steiner descendant argued that Punk is no different than any other veteran living off past glory.

The second-generation Steiner also affirmed that the former AEW star is pretty similar to Seth Rollins, who’s just a narcissist at the top of the mountain holding everyone else down. Breakker made it personal with Punk by dragging his wife, AJ Lee, into it and quipped that Punk should be worried about her being a bigger star than he is.
The former NXT Champion brought up that nasty landing he had on his neck courtesy of the ‘Cookie Master’ inside the WarGames structure this past weekend. Breakker accused the 47-year-old of trying to end his career and ruin his life. So, in turn, the son of Rick Steiner, after vehemently removing his jacket, vowed to sabotage the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ come January 5 on Raw.
The ex-Wolfdogs member stated that Punk will find out firsthand who the real best in the world is after losing the world title to Bron Breakker five days into the new year. ‘The Straight Edge Superstar’ wasn’t on the show this week, as he wasn’t medically cleared to compete after going through the wrath of WarGames at Survivor Series.
Could Bron Breakker actually upset CM Punk for the world title on January 5?
Bron Breakker was always projected to become a world champion on the main roster. The only question was about the timing of that moment. After Breakker and his Vision cohort, Bronson Reed turned on Seth Rollins in October, a report surfaced that WWE was planning to hold off Breakker’s world title coronation for a bit.

After Rollins was sidelined owing to an injury that he incurred at Crown Jewel, CM Punk went on to win the vacant world title at Saturday Night’s Main Event. ‘The Second City Saint’ has yet to make a title defense, and it seems like the fans will have to wait for over a month to witness it.
Anyone will have a hard time believing that WWE will make Punk lose the title this early, but it might be a case of striking when the iron is hot.

Breakker has the momentum by his side, and the majority of the WWE Universe is sold on the idea of seeing him with the top prize on Monday nights. One thing that Breakker noted in his promo on Raw was Punk having a word with him backstage at this year’s WrestleMania to congratulate him on the success he’s had so far.
The Chicagoan, however, told the youngster to buckle up for hanging in there on the microphone with the top dogs of the industry. While Bron Breakker did a fantastic job with the promo he cut this Monday, it’d be interesting to see how he would respond when Punk would be there to counter him in person.
