Looks like the Denver Broncos have fired a warning at the Kansas City Chiefs for next season and it’s rather bold as many would presume. Unlike other playoffs-eliminated teams that set their sights on the Super Bowl, the Broncos are adopting a more pragmatic approach, focusing on dethroning the two-time Super Bowl defending champion in their division.
After sustaining a hammering of 31-7 at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos owner addressed the media on Wednesday about their offseason plans. And it seems after snapping an eight-year-long postseason drought, the Broncos have high expectations from themselves for next season.
Broncos owner Greg Penner emphasized that the team’s plans in the offseason would be centered around competing with Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs. Before setting their sights on the Super Bowl, the Broncos want their divisional rivals, who are likely to achieve the historic three-peat this season, to know they are coming for the AFC West title and end their nine-year streak.

Although achieving this lofty goal wouldn’t be easy for the Broncos and would require a boatload of work, they are confident in their ability to accomplish this as they believe they are more ready and better prepared than they were to even imagine this a year ago.
Rookie Bo Nix fuels Broncos’ optimism for future success
Even though this season didn’t end as the Broncos hoped for once they advanced to the playoffs, they are finding solace in the fact that they found their starting quarterback, Bo Nix. In Wednesday’s press conference, head coach Sean Payton expressed his confidence in the rookie to become the franchise quarterback in Denver.
Payton’s confidence in Nix is another reason why Penner is betting his horses on the team’s ability to come back strongly and outrun the elite quarterback, who won three Super Bowls in the last five years, for the divisional title. After all, Nix finished his rookie campaign among the top rookies of the league by encompassing 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns– which became one of the highest in the league by a rookie.
Similar confidence in Nix was also shown by General Manager George Paton, who praised the 24-year-old for elevating the whole team with him, which demonstrates the exceptional leadership that the team had been looking for quite some time.
