With the departure of Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos brought in a quarterback who now appears to be in controversy over the starting job. Despite the high praise from head coach Sean Payton, Bo Nix might not make his debut as the starting quarterback, as Payton is known for preferring veterans.

Regardless of who leads the offense, the Broncos’ head coach is happy with the quarterback room he has now, aka since Wilson’s exit. In addition to the No. 12 overall pick, the franchise brought in Zach Wilson, to the quarterback room with Jarrett Stidham. Payton has referred to his quarterback room as a “good room” and called the QBs “orphan dogs.”

However, there appears a blunt critic of the Broncos quarterbacks, who not only disagreed with Payton but also called Wilson and Nix, the worst quarterbacks in the NFL. And that’s NFL reporter James Palmer, who gave his blunt opinion on the subject during a recent appearance in Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams

Well, he [Sean Payton] says it’s a good room, but let’s first say that it’s early, but this is probably the worst quarterback room in football--That can change after this season, but that’s just from the track record of the guys in the room.

Moreover, Palmer called rookie Nix as the “frontrunner” and advised the Broncos head coach to let Nix handle the offense next season if it disagrees with Payton’s norms of letting a rookie play. The NFL reporter stated that the focus for the Broncos in the 2024 campaign should be to see if Nix was the right draft pick.

Zach Wilson’s arm talent shines in Denver’s OTAs

While the subject of starting quarterbacks remains debatable in Denver, the former New York Jets quarterback seems to be shining bright in the Broncos’ OTAs. With all three QBs: Nix, Wilson, and Stidham, they all are putting their best foot upfront.

But Wilson has impressed many with his performance in the OTAs, which many viewed as a justification for him being the No. 2 overall pick. Palmer claimed Wilson’s arm talents make him stand out from his competitors.

He threw some dimes out there, and I’m just fascinated by his talent winding up with somebody like Sean Payton

Regardless of what happens in the future, the Broncos do have multiple options to choose as their starting quarterback. With Nix favored and Wilson’s performance in OTAs, the ultimate choice will be in between these two.
