Being the son of LeBron James and a basketball player comes with a lot of pressure and criticism. Thus, Chris Brickley, a renowned basketball trainer, came to the defense of Bronny James, as he argued that NBA fans are too harsh on the young player.

Brickley, in a recent conversation with Bleacher Report, asserted that Bronny James has the skills to have a successful NBA career. So far, the eldest son of LeBron James has yet to put in commendable performances. Nevertheless, Brickley highlighted why no one should panic about Bronny.

That showed me he really wants this. He wants to improve. I think he’s a lot better than people think. From his ball-handling, to shooting, to athleticism, to IQ, it’s way higher than people give him credit for. I think he’s going to have a long career in the NBA.

Bronny has struggled both in the Summer League and preseason. Already many had questioned his physical attributes and shooting efficiency. The rookie has been the most criticized draft pick despite being a second-round 55th pick. Many believe he should go to the G-League and get valuable experience before coming off the bench for the Lakers.

Luckily, he has found support from his father, LeBron James, and coach, JJ Redick. Moreover, plenty of others have issued their support as well. Recently, the rookie received an unconventional advice on how to handle the criticism. As such, there is plenty more to see before considering Bronny James as a failure in the NBA.

Kenyon Martin advises against sending Bronny James to the G League

Alongside Chris Brickley, Kenyon Martin has also offered his support to Bronny James. He made this known while being a guest on the Gil’s Arena podcast. The former NBA player suggested that sending him to the G League might not be the best decision.

Martin asserted that Bronny would benefit more from staying with the Lakers rather than being assigned to the South Bay Lakers in the G League. It’s a tough decision, considering that Bronny has averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in the preseason so far.

I think it’s a mistake for them to send him to the G League… Heaven forbid he go down there and not play well at all… Day one, you’re making more money than everybody in the G League… They’re going at you. Them dudes is 28, 29, 30. They got their grown man strength and they going to be out there trying to dog walk that young boy.

The Lakers’ preseason has been mixed with wins and losses, although the game against the Suns was action-packed. They open the new season with a tough game against last season’s beaten Western Conference finalists, the Minnesota Timberwolves. Only time will tell what Bronny’s future looks like.
