Bronny received an unusual gift - a massive rug with his image on it

Bronny James, son of LeBron James, had his second consecutive impressive game for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Summer League. He scored 13 points on 5/10 shooting in a 93-89 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a slow start to his professional career, James seems to be finding his footing, looking good on both ends of the floor.

After the game, Bronny received an unusual gift – a massive rug with his image on it. While it may be more of a decoration than anything else, it’s a unique keepsake for the young player.

James’ performance was encouraging, as he surpassed his previous high in points and made contributions in other areas, including five rebounds and three assists. While it’s still early in his career, James is showing potential as a solid three-and-D player.

His strong performances have generated interest in his development, and he’ll look to continue his momentum in the Lakers’ next Summer League game against the Chicago Bulls. If he can keep up the positive play, he may end up playing a bigger role for the Lakers in the NBA season than initially expected.

Bronny James, a victim of unrealistic expectations, says NBA Insider

Bronny James had a shaky start to his professional career in the NBA Summer League, leading to criticism from analysts and fans. However, some experts believe that the Los Angeles Lakers’ management is partly to blame for the scrutiny surrounding Bronny. According to Seth Partnow of The Athletic, the Lakers’ handling of Bronny’s selection in the 2024 NBA Draft put a target on his back and created unrealistic expectations.

I think they have done him a tremendous disservice. Not just the fact of picking him but the way they have sort of rolled it out... I think that they have gone so over the top in this that they've really put a target on the poor kid's back.

Despite being picked late in the second round, Bronny’s selection generated significant media attention. This was fueled by his father’s comments about playing together and his agent’s efforts to ensure he landed on the Lakers.

However, Bronny has struggled to find his rhythm in the Summer League, failing to surpass 10 points in his first two games. Nevertheless, he has shown improvement in recent games, scoring 12 points against the Atlanta Hawks and 13 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Analysts like Zach Lowe acknowledge that Bronny is still a developing player who deserves time to grow outside of the spotlight. Despite his famous surname, Bronny’s numbers in college didn’t warrant the high expectations placed upon him. As the 2024-2025 NBA season approaches, it remains to be seen how Bronny will perform under the intense scrutiny he faces.
