Lakers rookies lineup to wish Lebron James happy birthday
On the occasion of LeBron James‘ 40th birthday, the Lakers’ rookies assembled to sing the ‘Happy Birthday’ song in his honor. During Monday’s practice session, his son Bronny James, along with Dalton Knecht, Quincy Olivari, and Armel Traore, lined up to show their love for the GOAT.
In a video released by the Lakers, LeBron can be seen grinning like a Cheshire cat as the team celebrates his birthday. The performance was led by none other than Bronny and Knecht, who can be seen with microphones, while Traore held a speaker on his shoulder.
As the song came to a close, LeBron playfully pointed toward Bronny, reminding him not to call him “Dad” on the court. Then, James ceremoniously sliced into the cake as the whole roster applauded the King for joining Club 40 and becoming the oldest active player in the NBA.

LeBron James will play his first game as a 40-year-old against what could be the Lakers’ toughest matchup so far this season: the number one seed and his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his 22nd year in the league, it’s mind-blowing that James can still average 23.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, and nine assists while playing for over 35 minutes a game.
Kevin Love’s perfect wish to his friend and ex-teammate LeBron James
In his two-decade-long career in the NBA, James has formed many close bonds with teammates and coaches. Almost all of his friends took the time to wish him on his birthday. From coaches Mike Malone and Steve Kerr to his former teammate Dwyane Wade, many shared their heartfelt messages.
While some also took playful jabs at him as friends do, no one did it better than Kevin Love.
My brother @kingjames turns 40 today. Regardless of your religious affiliation – here is a baptism you might enjoy. F*ck You. I’ll text you separately ???
Kevin Love wrote in the caption of the post
Love shared a throwback reel from a couple of years ago. In it, while playing for the Lakers, King James mischievously dunked on his own friend and former teammate. The video then cuts to Kevin Love walking over to James and putting him in a chokehold for “baptizing” him, as both friends laugh.
In another video, while wishing him a happy birthday, Kevin Love sarcastically called James “annoying,” “full of yourself,” and said he “never passed.” However, he added that he loves him regardless. On a more serious note, Love mentioned that they have had some great memories with King, especially from 2016, as he reminisced about the good old times.
Wishes and admiration poured in from across the NBA. Steve Kerr, who had the pleasure of coaching LeBron James during the Paris Olympics, called it “what a joy it was” and added that it was far better than trying to coach against him in the Finals.
