Bronny James has been the epicenter of the draft discussions this year. Even after being a late second-round pick, everyone has talked about him more than any top draft pick. Right from his defense to his stats, the critics have debated on everything the rookie has done on the court.

People on the internet trolled when he stumbled down on defense. With the amount of scrutiny faced by the son of LeBron James, NBA veterans are now backing Bronny James. Gilbert Arenas recently compared his criticism and level of debate to that of a No. 1 pick in the NBA. 

He has the pressure of a number 1 pick. People are reacting to his 4 points as if his spot 55 shouldn't have been 4 points. With the 55th pick most of them don't even get in the games.

No. 1 overall pick of last year, Victor Wembanyama did not set the Summer League on fire. Scoring 4 points in the first NBA game as a rookie might not indicate a bust. The Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick has also praised James Jr.’s defensive abilities and aims to improve them this offseason.

Bronny James didn’t play as much during his time with the USC Trojans. As such, he needs more minutes of experience to develop his game. The rookie is all set and aiming for good minutes in his forthcoming games in the NBA G-League and Summer League. The Lakers Summer League coach has also confirmed that he will be playing the rest of the Summer League Season, unlike other draft picks.

JJ Redick appears to have a clear vision for the Lakers. He even criticized the last season’s Lakers for not adapting their game plan. He sees a clear path for Bronny James to become a relevant contributor to the team. However, like all good things, it will only come with time.
