Bronny James’ locker room ‘discontent’ dismissed by fellow Lakers rookie
There were reports of alleged discontent from Los Angeles Lakers Summer League players.
Bronny James locker room discontent during Summer League dismissed by fellow Los Angeles Lakers rookie Blake Hinson
The NBA Summer League games were a yardstick to measure what Bronny James needs to work on before the new season starts. He did play those games and was a prominent part of the lineup. However, since the end of the games, voices coming from inside the Los Angeles Lakers locker room suggested the other players were unhappy. But now, a fellow rookie has come out to dismiss that notion.
One of his fellow rookies in the Summer League was sharpshooter Blake Hinson. He was asked by host Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation podcast if the alleged locker room discontent was true.
No. Honestly, you know how it is. Stuff like that doesn’t really shock me. Because to be totally honest with you, as far as his treatment, he was just a normal guy. He just played basketball. He really stays out of the way. He’s a cool dude. I don’t really understand how something like that came out. So that’s nonsense to me.Blake Hinson said
He was implying that the report of discontent was made up. Probably because the said anonymous player wasn’t getting minutes. One of Hinson’s lines also suggests it is possibly jealousy.
What makes it interesting is that, had it been another normal draft pick, the said anonymous player might not have spoken out in this fashion. There is no media interest in one Summer League player complaining about not getting minutes compared to another.
Just because it is LeBron James‘ son and the most talked about 2nd round pick in the history of the NBA, that one can decide to speak out. Blake Hinson’s words suggest that Bronny James was just a normal basketball player. He did not have any airs about him throughout the Summer League.
Bronny James’ demeanor will define his success
If Bronny James has no airs about himself, then it will work wonders in the locker room. After all, the one thing teammates hate the most is when one player brags or shows attitude without achieving anything. The Los Angeles Lakers rookie can make his locker room presence felt with his work on the basketball court.
That is, he selflessly plays in order to help his team win. Anything less, and it will be difficult to keep him around after LeBron James retires. After all, chemistry is one of the pillars of team success. But the former USC freshman is known to be a quiet and grounded person. Suggesting he should not have any problems building chemistry with the Lakers stars.
Continue that demeanor and build his game as per what head coach JJ Redick wants, and he should not have a problem earning the respect of his teammates. After all, solid work on the court can erase any questions of an undeserving entry into the NBA.
