“A lot of criticism gets thrown my way!”- Bronny James opens up about being LeBron’s son
Bronny James realizes how tough it is being the son of the legendary LeBron James.
LeBron and Bronny James
Bronny James, son of NBA legend LeBron James, recently opened up about the challenges he faces for being the son of the four-time NBA champion in an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio. This is a burden that comes with a hefty price as he chooses to follow the same career path as his illustrious and iconic father.
The eldest son of LeBron James has increased his stock with his impressive pre-draft performance and has also seen his rating rise. But despite the burden and high expectations, he is happy with the decision he made to choose to hoop over other sports such as soccer.
It's tough. A lot of criticism gets thrown my way. But you know, I've got to deal with it. We all know what I've been through. I just try to make the best of my opportunities that are given to me.Bronny James said on SiriusXM NBA Radio
Bronny is currently ranked as the 54th best prospect in the 2024 draft class by ESPN, and even though he has talked about being his own man and charting his own course, he can’t seem to shake the constant stories of his father. Most analysts believe that teams drafting Bronny is a way to lure the four-time MVP, however, that isn’t guaranteed.
With his determination and resilience, Bronny James has shown that he wants to carve his own niche. But that seems like a Herculean task, considering who his legendary father is and his longtime desire to one day play alongside his son.
Bronny James receives most bets to be No. 1 pick in 2024 NBA Draft
Bronny James is currently the most-bet player to be taken as the number one pick in the 2024 NBA draft at MGM sportsbooks, with 22.5% of all bets placed on him at 200-1 odds. However, this is considered a long shot, as with low exposure and little chance of James actually being selected as the top pick.
James struggled during his lone season at USC, as he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 36.6% from the floor. Despite being viewed as a potential lottery pick coming out of high school, James underwent surgery for a congenital heart defect and was cleared to play by the NBA, but has not done enough to get himself in the top-pick conversation.
Betting on James to be the No. 1 pick is considered a risky move, with bettors having a better chance of winning the Powerball or Mega Millions than James does of ascending to the top pick. In fact, some experts, such as B/R’s Jonathan Wasserman, do not have James being selected in their latest mock draft and have him outside their top 50 overall players.
