Before LeBron James stepped back onto an NBA court for the 23rd straight season, he was assigned to the Los Angeles Lakers’ G-League squad, the South Bay Lakers, where his son, Bronny James, played last season.

James Sr. had nothing but gratitude for his time on the developmental squad. This is because they helped prepare him to return to 5 on 5 basketball, after missing training camp, preseason, and then the 1st month of this season.

Teammate Austin Reaves had joked about how the league’s all-time leading scorer had taken his son’s place on the G-League outfit. Now, it seems the situation has completely reversed.

In his debut game, James Sr. played 30 minutes, scoring 11 points and 12 assists. While zipping passes to his teammates, his son let out some of the biggest cheers from the bench. From now on, he will not be able to do so.

The Lakers quietly assigned Bronny James and rookie Adou Thiero to their G-League squad. The former has averaged just 2.1 points and 1.8 assists in the 10 games he has played.

It seems the senior team coaches decided it was better that James Jr. spend time with the development team, as he would not get any meaningful minutes with the 1st team.

Last season, he developed well and shut down critics with his performances. However, the situation with the Los Angeles Lakers necessitated this change, as some senior players are returning from injury.

Fans troll Bronny James for losing his place on Lakers roster due to his father

When LeBron James made his debut against the Utah Jazz, Jarred Vanderbilt was still out with an injury. Now that he is back, the franchise believes he and the two-way players would have a better impact.

However, fans felt this was the Lakers essentially telling Bronny James that he needs more time in the developmental league. They believe his father’s return sped up the process.

Fans believe this drama surrounding their 2nd round pick proves that he is not ready for the NBA. Check out examples of those reactions below.

This might be a temporary arrangement, as head coach JJ Redick has made it clear that Bronny James would be an integral part of the Lakers’ rotation.

It could be that they want him to get more playing time. That way, he can come back while in form and help the 1st team continue their run towards the playoffs.

LeBron James revealed Bronny James does not live with him anymore

When Bronny James made his debut in the NBA, he was still staying with his parents at LeBron James’ massive mansion in Los Angeles. Now, he no longer lives with them.

He’s not a resident anymore, so we don’t talk too much. He has his own place.

LeBron James told reporters

It seems it was a natural progression for a young man who many felt was being coddled by his family for so long. Now, as he is in a relationship, it seems he feels it is time to live his own life.

The 4-time league MVP did not share where his eldest son has moved, but it is assumed that his new place is near where his parents and siblings stay.
