Ahead of the new NBA season, rookie Bronny James will make history alongside his father LeBron James if they share the court together. And two people who have experienced it before, albeit in another sport, will be in attendance to celebrate the moment.

The two people, the Griffeys, who became the first father-son duo to play together in Major League Baseball, are eager to see if the James family can achieve a similar feat. Ken Griffey Jr. had earlier shared his excitement about attending the game and now Bronny James was given the opportunity to respond to the gesture.

That’s going to be insane. I mean, only two families to do it so… it’s going to be a crazy experience. Especially with what they’ve done.

With the Lakers hosting last season’s Western Conference finalists, the Timberwolves, all eyes are on whether Bronny will join his father on the court for the opener. All this might happen despite the rookie not having the great of preseason outing.

Bronny has the support of his coach, JJ Redick, and former Lakers legend, Magic Johnson. Furthermore, he recently received advice from future Hall of Famer Stephen Curry.

Bronny James discusses Lakers’ season opener and Quincy Olivari’s impact

It feels like a dream, but Bronny James will indeed play with his legendary father. And ahead of the game, he spoke with the media where he addressed the team’s recent signing of Quincy Olivari to a two-way contract.

I thought it was amazing. He’s a great guy, he’s over there working right now. I’m just extremely happy for him… I feel like he’ll fit right in… We’ve just built that relationship on and off the court, in the gym, in the training room, stuff like that.

Olivari wasn’t as fortunate as going undrafted out of Xavier, but he made an impression during the preseason with solid performances. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while he shot an impressive 52.2% from the field and 57.1% from three-point range across four games.

The Lakers will hope the addition of a rookie coach will be a catalyst this season. And coming off a disappointing first-round playoff exit to the Denver Nuggets, they are desperately looking to bounce back this season.
