Following a defeat at the hands of the USA in the semifinals of the men’s basketball tournament, Nikola Jokic led the Serbians to win the bronze medal in the game against Germany. After the game, the head coach of the German team, Gordon Herbert hailed Serbia for their performances at the Paris Olympics.

While speaking in a press conference after their bronze game defeat, Herbert stated that while he respects Team France, the best team he’s faced in the Olympics so far is the Serbians.

All good things come to an end. It ended not the way we wanted, but these guys gave their heart and soul for three years. These players… It's been a family. Congrats to Serbia. Sorry to France, but that's the best team we played in the Olympics.

While the French team consists of well-known basketball stars, including Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert, the German coach is of the opinion that they won’t come close to Team Serbia at the 2024 Olympics. According to him, the Serbian team led by Nikola Jokic are miles ahead and deserve a worthy mention.

Furthermore, Herbert recalled the game against France which his side eventually lost. While the head coach admitted a better job could have been done, it appears he still rates the host nation way lesser than the winners of their third-place game. Jokic and Serbia will definitely have something to rejoice in, despite missing out on Olympic gold in the competition.

Nikola Jokic displayed true sportsmanship after win against Germany

As Team Serbia and Nikola Jokic conclude their run at the Olympic Games, the Denver Nuggets player seized the opportunity to show the world he is a proper athlete. A viral video making the rounds on the internet shows the Serbian star doing just that after the game.

As his Serbian teammates celebrated amongst themselves at the end of the game, Jokic turned and walked to the side of the court where the German players and coaches were. He then proceeded to give handshakes and warm embraces to every one of the players and the coaching crew.

With Jokic in the midst of the German squad exchanging hugs and showing true sportsmanlike behavior, other stars from the Serbian side noticed and soon followed suit. His leadership was even more evident, when the entire team soon joined in and showed proper respect to their defeated opponents.
