“Going to be an issue”: Jalen Rose highlights concern over Brooklyn Nets’ problems winning in the Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets and Jalen Rose
As far as the 2020 season is concerned, Brooklyn Nets have assembled a super team like no other. After acquiring James Harden to their contributory Big 3, they added Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge to solidify their position in the league. Brooklyn Nets are already being considered as the biggest threat for the defending champions, Los Angeles Lakers. However, LaMarcus Aldridge announced his retirement early over concerns for his health factors. Adding to Brooklyn Nets; misery, many players including Kevin Durant succumbed injuries and a rocky patch featured James Harden to control the game. Now that he is also put, the team is once again stagnant. Former NBA star Jalen Rose recently put his contentions that this might not be Brooklyn Nets’ year.
The Nets are 39-20 in the east equaling Philadelphia 76ers record who are the top seeded team. They have 5 wins in their last 10 games. But to the Brooklyn nets’ concern the chemistry issues have once again popped up. Technically, the team hasn’t performed like a super team till now. The injury woes have pulled Brooklyn nets far beyond par.
Brooklyn Nets overburdened with pressure
According to former NBA player Jalen Rose, “The amount of injuries started to become substantial, so much so that they’ve only played together seven times this year. Which means there’s 90 days approximately left in this entire season. They’re going to have to put together a roster of chemistry that’s going to play well together offensively and defensively, in particularly in clutch situations.” Rose also believes that they aren’t equipped to handle the other top teams in the East. He said, “They’re also going to have to figure out how to defend the best bigs in the East. “
He added what can possibly go wrong for the Brooklyn Nets. He said, “Because when you’re playing against Embiid, Giannis and Bam [Adebayo], that’s going to be an issue for a Nets team that’s probably going to finish games with Jeff Green – who’s been giving them really good minutes shooting the three and giving them toughness, but he’s just not as big as those guys.”
While there is a lot on the plate for Brooklyn Nets, small glories have also been out of their reach. “I’m just starting to see so much evidence that has now brought me to the conclusion – this isn’t the year for the Nets to win the East, said Jalen Rose. “This isn’t like, oh me trying to give a hot take…. I’m not saying that the Nets aren’t great. Not saying that they’re not going to be great. I’m just saying the other teams are going to be in their way this year, and [are] going to knock them out of the playoffs.” Brooklyn Nets have held on to their #2 position in East. But as the post season games will begin, there will be a lot to ask from the plausible super team.
