Brooklyn Nets regain their #1 Eastern Conference spot after defeating Boston Celtics

Joe Harris
After Philadelphia 76ers’ recent slump, Brooklyn Nets take the most of their advantage by stealing the #1 spot in the East after beating the Boston Celtics 109-104. Although Kyrie Irving scored 15 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds, he found it very tough to score in this particular game against his former team. Joe Harris scored 20 points for the home team. Irving only shot 4 from 19, missing all of his six 3-pointer attempts.
Talking about the Boston Celtics, they were led by Jayson Tatum who scored 38 points and 10 rebounds but missed couple of crucial free-throws in the last quarter. Payton Pritchard was impressive scoring 22 points, draining six 3-pointers.

Both teams were without two of their three best players. Kevin Durant missed a third straight game with a bruised left thigh, remaining sidelined along with James Harden (right hamstring).
Jaylen Brown missed his second straight game with left shoulder bursitis, while Kemba Walker rested his left knee on the second night of Boston’s back-to-back
Boston Celtics cut Brooklyn Nets’ 17-point lead to 98-95 with about 3 1/2 minutes left after consecutive 3-pointers by Pritchard and Tatum. But Harris answered with a 3-pointer and Irving passed ahead to Jeff Green for a dunk to quickly push the lead back to eight.
Green had 19 points for Brooklyn Nets, which won for only the third time in six games. But that’s good enough to move back ahead of idle Philadelphia 76ers, which has dropped 3 in a row.
The Nets got their running game going again with Harris making consecutive 3-pointers off passes from Kyrie Irving to cap a 10-0 spurt that pushed the lead to 86-70 in the final minute of the third. After which the away team seemed to have too much to catch up onto.
