5-time major champion Brooks Koepka suffered another disappointment on Friday. The LIV Golf star carded a score of 80 in Round 2 of the 2025 Irish Open and missed the cut. His loss sparked some wild reaction among golf fans on social media.
Koepka fired a score of 1-under 71 on Thursday and was looking to climb up the standings on Friday. He did not have the best of starts as he made 3 bogeys in the first 5 holes. As he tried to bounce back from this, he made a triple bogey on the par-4 7th hole.
He finished the front nine while being 5-over. While he did make a birdie on the 10th hole, he made a double bogey on the 12th hole and a bogey on the 15th hole. He wrapped up the back nine with a 3-over score and finished the day with 8-over par.
This performance saw him finish the event with a 7-over score and miss the cutline of 1-over by 6 shots. This marked the 4th event out of the 5 he has played outside LIV Golf, where he missed the cut.

It is no surprise that Koepka has struggled for form this year. While he did participate in 4 majors, he made the cut in only one of them. He missed the cut at the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship while finishing with scores of 5-over par and 9-over par respectively.
He did make the cut at the U.S. Open in June. He would later admit that failing to play the weekend in the first 2 major championships left him frustrated. Following a T12 finish at Oakmont, Koepka missed the cut at the Open Championship with scores of 75 and 74 in the two rounds.
Even on the no-cut LIV Golf circuit, Koepka struggled to bring out his best game. In the 13 events, he only had 2 top-10 finishes and came 50th in the LIV Golf Indianapolis event. As a result of these performances, the former World No.1 finished 31st in the LIV Golf Individual standings.

It would be very hard to keep your fire playing in that format, especially if set for life money-wise. Not judging. It just would.

One of the most predictable outcomes in recent history

Desire fuels results — don’t see a lot of desire from him these days.
All of the money and playing in the lower leagues has killed his golf game!

Hate to say it but he's terrible.

Money over legacy. Cant say I’m surprised. Maybe throw some music on the par 3 tee box’s and he’ll play good 😂

Koepka will now turn his attention to the DP World Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship. He received a special invitation to this tournament and will tee off at Wentworth in the $9 million purse event.
Brooks Koepka recently commented on his poor play which led to Ryder Cup snub
The one event that every golf fan is eager to watch this month is the 2025 Ryder Cup. Team USA and Team Europe will battle it out at the Bethpage Course in New York in a few days. Brooks Koepka will be one of the top American stars who will watch this event from home as he was snubbed from the event this year.

In the past few events, Koepka had been the standout name for Team USA. However, with a decline a form in the last couple of years, he failed to automatically book his place in the event and was not selected as one of the six captain’s picks by Keegan Bradley.
Speaking on this development before the Irish Open, the 35-year-old expressed that his recent form had nothing to with his ties with LIV Golf.
I played my way off it, so I can’t be disappointed. I did it myself. It’s not anything I’m not aware of. I’m not shying away from it. It’s just bad timing. Just the situation I’m in, being on LIV and then not playing well. I don’t think LIV had anything to do with me not being on the team.

In 2023, Koepka was the only LIV Golfer to take part in the Ryder Cup. He picked up 1.5 points from his 3 matches while going 1-1-1 in the tournament.
This year, LIV Golf has 3 representatives for the Ryder Cup. While Bryson DeChambeau and Tyrrell Hatton qualified directly for Team USA and Team Europe, respectively, Jon Rahm was a captain’s pick by Luke Donald.
