In the past few days, there has been an increase in the rumors of LIV Golfers returning to the PGA Tour. One of such talks was about Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour and leaving the 54-hole circuit. On Wednesday, the 5-time major champion addressed the situation and expressed uncertainty regarding his future.
A week ago, the comments of former Masters champion Fred Couples came out. In this, the veteran golfer claimed that Koepka wants to return to the PGA Tour. He also claimed that the two of them have been in constant contact with each other.
On Wednesday ahead of the LIV Golf Singapore event, Koepka was asked about the speculations regarding his future in the press conference. The Smash GC Captain expressed that he has a contract “obligation” to fulfil and does not know what will happen next.
I’ve got a contract obligation out here to fulfill, and then we’ll see what happens. I don’t know where I’m going, so I don’t know how everybody else does. Right now I’m just focused on how do I play better, how do I play better in the majors, how does this team win, and then we’ll figure out next year and how to play better again.

Koepka is one of those LIV Golfers who does not endorse LIV Golf gear during the major championships. This added more fuel to this fierce speculation.
Just a few days before his name came up, the name of his rival, Bryson DeChambeau, also came up in such talks. It had been reported that the 2-time U.S. Open will leave LIV Golf at the end of the year and return to the PGA Tour after his $280 million contract extension was declined.
However, last week, DeChambeau debunked this report. The Crushers GC captain claimed that he was very excited about his future with LIV Golf.

Phil Mickelson had called out Fred Couples over comments regarding Brooks Koepka
Fred Couples’ comment regarding Brooks Koepka caused a massive stir in the golfing community. This had come out just a few days after a report suggested that Bryson DeChambeau was also on his way back to the tour. Phil Mickelson though, was not pleased with this comments from Couples and later called him out.

This talks came out at a time when LIV Golf’s backer PIF and the PGA Tour remain in constant talks regarding the merger deal. Once the deal goes through, the game of golf is said to be reunified with all players playing together once again under one tour.
While it could take a while for the reunification of the game to actually happen, Mickelson was not happy with Couples. In a since-deleted tweet, the 6-time major champion called it a “low class jerk move“.
If it’s not true he damaged a relationship which he cares about. If it is true he took away Brooks’ control of the timeline and narrative. Either way this is a low class jerk move by Fred.

Koepka and Mickelson were among the top names who had joined LIV Golf on a huge contracts and left the PGA Tour. In 2023, the 34-year-old had admitted that he had signed with LIV Golf for the money. As per reports, he had penned down a contract worth more than $100 million.
Brooks Koepka was recently spotted mingling with PGA Tour stars at TGL
In the last week of February, Brooks Koepka sent shockwaves across the golf community when he made a surprise appearance at the TGL. The former World No.1 was spotted mingling with PGA Tour stars at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida.

This appearance of Koepka came when Tiger Woods was not present at the TGL. One of the co-founders of the league did not participate in the fourth match of his team, Jupiter Links GC.
In the photos which later went viral on social media, Koepka could be seen laughing and having conversations with stars like Kevin Kisner, Max Homa and Wyndham Clark. Fans on social media would claim he was “jealous” of what he was missing after leaving the PGA Tour.

What makes his appearance noteworthy is that, only PGA Tour players are allowed in the TGL. LIV Golfers are banned from competing in this league. Though Koepka just came down as a guest, his presence at the TGL still caused some major talking points.
Koepka will now turn his attention to LIV Golf Singapore event before starting his preparation for the Masters Tournament. In 2023, Koepka was leading the event after 54 holes. He suffered a collapse in the final round and had to settle with a T2 finish and missed out on the green jacket.
