If Kevin Stefanski wasn’t on the hot seat before, then he should be after Sunday’s loss against the New York Jets. Despite starting as the favorites in a regular-season game after a long time, the Browns caused two grave blunders in the first quarter to tip the balance of the tie in the Jets’ favor.

David Njokus good work to score a 9-yard touchdown went down the drain in the following kickoff. Jets running back Kene Nwangwu returned Andre Szmyt’s kick for a touchdown, and in the ensuing drive, Isaiah Williams scored a punt return touchdown, completely changing the outlook of the game.

Dillin Gabriel restored parity in the second quarter with a second touchdown pass. Minutes later, the game turned into a kicking contest between Szmyt and veteran Jets kicker Nick Folk. Each scored two three-pointers before Justin Fields hit Breece Hall for a 42-yard score.

Ironically, Fields completed just 82 total yards and threw an interception in the second quarter, but the Browns never recovered from the two early TDs they conceded.

Gabriel wasn’t better either. The rookie out of the University of Oregon completed 53% of his passes for 167 yards. The 2 touchdowns he threw made minimal impact on the outcome.

In the Week 10 matchup at MetLife Stadium, the Browns suffered a 27-20 loss.

Browns fans want the owners to fire Kevin Stefanski

Stefanski led the Browns to their first playoff run and a win following an extended dry period without one. Three years later, he repeated the same with a new quarterback. However, the Browns can’t seem to get it right anymore.

Gabriel and Sheduer Sanders‘ addition brought renewed hope to the Cleveland franchise. Stefanski picked veteran Joe Flacco as the starter, a run that lasted four games. Gabriel took over and has been QB1 since.

What once seemed like a groundbreaking move now feels like a total failure. The Browns sit at 2-7, and while they are still mathematically in the playoff race, the path ahead is anything but easy.

There’s also growing discontent with Stefanski. Fans want the brass to make a proactive decision by firing the 43-year-old. Leading the charge is none other than ESPN Cleveland producer Nick Paulus.

Jimmy [Haslam, the Browns owner], it’s over, man. You have to pull the plug on Kevin Stefanski. For the love of God… Fire Kevin Stefanski. I can’t watch another game. I have to, I hate that I have to. This is over, it’s donezo. Fire Stefanski… You lost to the Jets? Who are openly tanking!!! Fire everyone.

Stefanski’s record doesn’t paint a healthy picture. He is 42-51 from 93 games in six seasons with the Browns.

Phil Taylor, who spent four seasons with the Browns, suggested a replacement if the Haslams fired Stefanski. In a recent segment of The Top Dawg Show, Taylor nominated Deion Sanders as the ideal candidate to lead the Browns.

Prime knows what to do, what it takes for these guys to get where they need to be.

Phil Taylor said

Until the ownership makes a change, Stefanski is the head honcho, and the Browns fans just have to deal with it for the foreseeable future.
