Browns’ Ogbo Okoronkwo Likes Post Blasting Myles Garrett’s Leadership After He Skipped OTAs for Japan Trip

Cleveland Browns DE Ogbo Okoronkwo has landed in hot water after the 30-year-old veteran reportedly liked a post suggestive of a dislike towards the actions of a prominent player. The said post criticized former DPOY Myles Garrett for skipping the organized training activities and going on a trip to the Asian country of Japan.
Garrett, who was among the few from the Browns camp who had a decent year last season, is allegedly dating the Olympian Chloe Kim. The duo sparked major rumors with their red carpet appearance at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards hosted at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa on May 25th.
While the OTAs are voluntary, the absence of a leader figure like Garrett is easily noticed. Last season, the Browns finished second-worst in the league with just four wins. For a team looking to break into the playoffs, the absence of a leader figure is not an ideal situation.
Furthermore, Myles Garrett didn’t come cheap either, signing a big deal this offseason. Perhaps Okoronkwo’s social media activity reflected a deeper frustration about that very absence.
Uh Oh: Browns DE Ogbo Okoronkwo liked a post on IG that talked about Myles Garrett not being a good leader for the team.

The post criticizes Myles for being in Japan and not at OTAs.

In response to the backlash, Okoronkwo took to X to clarify his position.
Myles [is] a great teammate and leader, saw the post and thought these guys literally don’t have a clue what’s going on and this post supported that. If you’re bored go exercise.

His statement suggested the like was less about criticizing Garrett and more about expressing disdain for the narrative being pushed by outsiders.

Cleveland Browns has no problem with Myles Garrett skipping the OTAs
Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett has drawn attention for skipping the team’s first round of OTAs, but head coach Kevin Stefanski made it clear that there’s no internal drama surrounding his absence.

When asked on Wednesday whether Garrett’s decision to skip the voluntary workouts upset him, Stefanski responded with a light chuckle.
No. It’s really important to remember this is a voluntary program.
Garrett wasn’t alone in opting out. Other Browns veterans, including tight end David Njoku, cornerback Greg Newsome, and newly-acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson, were also missing from the session. The Njoku situation seems like a contract extension hold-in while Newsome might be on the chopping block.
I think it’s really important to remember that this is a voluntary program and anybody who’s here, we’re excited about that. We’re not reporting who’s here on what day. So, there are guys that will be in and out of the program and that is totally their prerogative. But the guys that are here will just continue to work.
Kevin Stefanski reiterated
Of the absentees, Johnson’s situation stands out. The 28-year-old receiver joined the Browns this offseason on a veteran’s minimum deal with no guaranteed money, an indication that he’ll need to prove himself to secure a roster spot. Earlier, Stefanski himself had commented that the OTAs might be good for the player.
After a rocky 2024 campaign split between three different teams, Cleveland is hoping the former Pro Bowler can rediscover his earlier form and add depth to the receiving corps.
