What a first few months it has been for running back Quinshon Judkins. He won the college football championship with Ohio State, vowed to change the culture of the Cleveland Browns after becoming their second-round draft pick, and got arrested while waiting to sign his rookie contract.
ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi reported that the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and Broward County had arrested Quinshon Judkins on Saturday, July 12. The police records obtained by ESPN revealed that the authorities charged the 21-year-old with domestic violence and battery.
The records further revealed that Judkins is to appear in court on Sunday for an initial hearing. Details about the reason behind the charges remain under wraps.

It is an unfortunate turn of events for a very promising rusher. He arrived in Cleveland with a winner’s mentality after taking home the natty in college.
When I come to be a Cleveland Brown, I’m coming in to change the organization, contribute, and do the best I can. I know what it takes to win, so I’m going to bring that mentality here to Cleveland and do the same thing.

Meanwhile, the Browns have played cat and mouse with Judkins and their second-round picks. Despite attending training camps in the offseason, Judkins has yet to sign his rookie contract. The Browns’ first-round rookies, DT Darius Alexander and LB Carson Schwesinger, both signed a fully guaranteed deal.
Since Seahawks second-round safety Nick Emmanwori remains without a contract, Judkins likely decided to follow in his path. If Emmanwori signs a fully guaranteed deal, then he will have the leverage to demand the same.
And Judkins was still holding out for a fully guaranteed contract…that’s one way to forfeit every ounce of leverage.

Aside from Judkins, general manager Andrew Berry drafted Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson in the fourth round. And yet, fans still wanted to see Nick Chubb as their man running back. Despite listening to all the pleas, Berry cut the All-Pro rusher from the team, and he signed for the Houston Texans.

Judkins isn’t the first Browns second-rounder to get arrested
By now, Browns fans must hate the offseason. Nearly every year, one of their players creates an issue that becomes a national headline. Judkins made it this year, and last year it was another rookie who forced them to bring out the ‘we suck’ paper bag on their face.

The Browns’ rookie defensive tackle (now second year), Michael Hall Jr., was booked on a first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence charge for threatening his fiancee with a gun during a fight. Moreover, he allegedly pushed a woman’s daughter and hit her with a baby bottle.

Hall was put on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, making him ineligible to play for the Browns.

The Deshaun Watson conundrum remains unsolved, and in retrospect, the situation became even more complicated after his Achilles injury in January. Watson is unlikely to play this season, but that does not mean the Browns have a shortage of quarterbacks. It’s the opposite.
Berry re-signed 40-year-old Joe Flacco, traded for Super Bowl winner Kenny Pickett, and drafted not one but two rookie quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Flacco leads the quarterback race, as he knows head coach Kevin Stefanski’s system. But the bottom line is that the race is wide open, and anyone can steal the starting job.
If Judkins fails to join the Browns before training camp on July 22, then Stefanski and Berry have some big decisions to make about the running back spot.
