It was a day to forget for the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. The team entered the game against the Winnipeg Jets on a four-game winning run. However, they suffered a crushing 8-1 defeat which left the fans stunned with their performance.
The 2024-25 season has seen the Bruins have mixed results. At times, the team has looked super strong while at some points, they have looked deflated. Their recent three-game winless run saw the end of coach Jim Montgomery‘s tenure as he was fired by GM Don Sweeney.
After the firing of Montgomery, the team had won seven of the last nine games. However, in this match they were blown away by a strong performance from the high-flying Jets.
The Bruins found themselves 2-0 down at the end of the first period as goals from Vladislav Namestnikov and Mark Scheifele put the hosts in cruise control. The team added a third goal in the second period as Scheifele scored his second of the game through power-play. David Pastrnak pulled one back for the Bruins through a powerful shot.
Things got boiled over in the third period. The Jets scored five times in the final 20 minutes as Kyle Connor, Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, Mason Appleton, and Nikita Chibrikov, all found themselves on the scoresheet.

Apart from the goals, three fights also took place in the third period. First, Trent Frederic dropped his gloves against David Gustafsson. The Bruins star took down his opponent with one strong right hand.
Immediately after this fight, Mark Kastelic and Logan Stanley started exchanging punches near the Jets bench. After a few moments, Kastelic was able to bring down Stanley.
The final fight saw Jets’ captain Adam Lowry go against Nikita Zadorov. The Russian international came out on top in this bout. The Bruins seemingly won all three fights but lost the main battle against the Jets.
Social media reacts to Bruins’ thumping loss against Jets

Crazy how this Bruins roster constructed by Don Sweeney and Cal Neely still stinks even after they scapegoated Jim Montgomery to save their own skin

This loss has left the Bruins with a 15-12-3 record. This was probably the worst possible start they could have imagined to a five-game road trip. They will now take on the Seattle Kraken next before playing three games in Canada against the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers.
