The Indianapolis Colts had the worst possible start, facing the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin. The Colts headed into the match without their starting defensive tackle, DeForest Buckner, who was placed on Injured Reserve this week. The Colts turned to Grover Stewart, who’s had his moment of misfortune in the third quarter of the game.
The defensive tackle had a collision with the Falcons’ Tyler Allgeier, which dropped Stewart to his knees almost instantly. He was moved to the medical tent, where he was reviewed for a possible concussion. Though he was questionable to return, Stewart returned for the game. In the short time Stewart was off the field, the Colts used Neville Gallimore and Adetomiwa Adebawore as their two tackle options.
The Indianapolis Colts were already shorthanded without Buckner, who’s an All-Pro defensive veteran. Add Stewart’s absence to the mix, and the Colts’ defense was severely hollowed out. Nonetheless, they held the fort and contained Bijan Robinson from being an outright weapon for the Falcons.

The Colts’ defense played a huge role in the win on Sunday afternoon. They had a weak strata entering the matchup, ranking at the bottom end of the NFL in third-down success. In this game, they weren’t perfect, but the Falcons were 0-for-8 on third-down conversion attempts. They also ended up forcing sic punts in the game, along with a third-down takeaway.
Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor shine on Sunday to extend the Colts’ lead to 8-2
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Daniel Jones, was sacked seven times by the Atlanta Falcons, and he had a bloody lip to show for it. Jones sustained a bloody mouth in the fourth quarter, almost when they were attempting to tie the score in regulation time and extend the game into overtime.

He wasn’t his best self on Sunday, but he did come clutch in overtime to win the game for his team. He saved his best throw of the game for when it mattered, throwing a dime to Tyler Warren for 23 yards, and gave running back Jonathan Taylor a chance to finish out the game and secure a hard-earned win.
The game was not pretty, and Jones battled quite hard. He fumbled thrice, including one in the red zone, had a late-game costing penalty, and even threw an interception to the Falcons’ safety. On the flip side, he threw for 255 yards and one touchdown from 19 completions of 26 attempts while also rushing seven times for 53 yards.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Taylor broke some franchise records in the game and played a huge part in their win against the Falcons in Berlin. Taylor enthralled the Olympiastadion with his stellar performance, rushing for 244 yards and three touchdowns.
The three touchdowns took his total for the Colts to 66, thereby sprinting past the record of most rushing touchdowns for the Indianapolis Colts held by the legendary Edgerrin James. Heading into the game, Taylor was tied with the late 1950s and early 60s player, Lenny Moore, in second place with 63 rushing TDs.
It was also his fifth game with three or more touchdowns this season, which is just one short of LaDainian Tomlinson‘s single-season record. It’s not all, Taylor found himself in one of the most elite and exclusive lists in the NFL rushing category.
With his performance, Taylor joined the likes of HOFers Tomlinson, Emmitt Smith, and Jim Brown as the few players with more than 7000 rushing yards and 70 TDs before turning 27. Last but not least, Taylor now has multiple games with more than 240 rushing yards, which was previously done by just two individuals.
