As expected, UFC 303 could not escape a blood bath. Macy Chiasson vs. Mayra Bueno Silva was the second main card fight. Going into the fight, both fighters had promised a war. However, it ended in the most bizarre way possible. The women’s bantamweight bout ended in a doctor stoppage due to a horrifying cut.

Both women started the bout strong, with Chiasson appearing to have won the first round. The fight was stopped in the second round, and Chiasson was announced the winner via TKO. For Chiasson, it was arguably the most significant fight of her career over a previous title challenger in Mayra Bueno Silva. However, she never would have expected a fight to go like this in a technical knockout.

After gaining a takedown at the start of the second round, Chiasson unleashed a big elbow that ripped open Silva. This prompted referee Chris Tognoni to suspend the action as soon as the competitors rose to their feet again. The ringside physician noted that the wound was really deep. Despite the Brazilian’s requests not to, the physician announced that the fight could not continue further.

It was definitely an unfortunate ending for ‘Sheetara,’ who was looking to bounce back from her previous loss at UFC 297. On the other hand, it was the second win in a row for Macy Chiasson and will push her further in the UFC women’s bantamweight rankings. Nevertheless, it was a nasty strike, and the consequences were pretty visible on Silva’s forehead.
