AEW WrestleDream witnessed the rise of Jon Moxley to the top again. He defeated Bryan Danielson in what ultimately became the last match of the latter’s full-time professional wrestling career. However, it was not enough, as The Death Rider went on to unleash a cold-blooded ambush on Danielson that traumatized everyone in the arena.

The BCC members rushed to the ring following Moxley’s victory to lay out an attack on The American Dragon. They choked the latter with a plastic bag before crushing his neck in a steel chair to suck life out of his body. This moment even marked the official heel turn of Wheeler Yuta, who was the one who suffocated Danielson.

After seeing enough of the mayhem by Moxley and his crew, Darby Allin came in to rescue the 43-year-old star. However, even he got cornered by the BCC as he witnessed the decimation of Bryan Danielson. Moreover, it was a full-blown assassination attempt by Jon Moxley, who sent a bold statement to the AEW locker room.

Following the ambush, many stars, including Orange Cassidy and Adam Cole, surrounded the ring to stand up against The BCC. Nonetheless, it was a little too late, as by the time, Danielson was already on the verge of losing his neck. The show ended with a grieved Darby Allin looking at the lifeless body of his hero with a fire of vengeance in his eyes.

An update on the future of Bryan Danielson after a heartbreaking loss at AEW WrestleDream

According to Fightful, Danielson was working without a talent contract in AEW while he was champion. Therefore, he was a free agent the entire time for the last few months. Besides, the reluctancy behind signing a new contract was because of his delayed neck surgery, that he wants to get fixed first.

Moreover, within AEW there is a belief that The GOAT would be back to wrestle occasionally even after retiring from full-time wrestling. Therefore, the angle at WrestleDream might not be a concerning spot, as it could be done to provide the 43-year-old with a possible break for the next few months.
