Bryce Young, drafted as the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, appears to be moving on from the disappointing rookie season as he sets high goals for himself in the upcoming 2024 regular season with the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers were a big topic of discussion last season as they finished the poorest season of 2-15 with a change in head coach position in the middle, from Frank Reich to former Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales. But now as the 2024 offseason program is finished, Young feels it’s the right to let go of the horrors of last season and aim to achieve big in the upcoming season.
I’m big on controlling what I can control and making sure that that’s what’s focusing. Whatever happened the past year — the good, the bad, whatever. It’s not something that I can control. It’s not something that holds sway over what we’re doing anymore. So I think the more energy you put on stuff that doesn’t have any effect on what we’re trying to be. You can take away from the goal in itself.Bryce Young said in a conversation with CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones
The 2023 No. 1 pick finished his rookie season with 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions with a completion percentage of 59.8. He also logged an infamous record of being sacked 62 times– second highest in the league.
The franchise also made some integral additions to the team’s offense this offseason in an attempt to rebuild the team. They also brought in Brad Idzik as the new offensive coordinator, who has previously worked alongside Canales in the Seattle Seahawks.
Bryce Young lauds Panthers’ coaching changes
Bryce Young went on to talk about his team and last season’s fiasco. The Panthers’ quarterback also touched on the subject of the new coaching staff.
He also praised them for building better communication with the players, especially since both the offensive coordinator and head coach follow the same ideology.
All those guys being in the room and having coached together, having a background and them being on the same page, for myself, for everyone in the offense, us knowing that we can speak the same language in all the talks we have.Bryce Young shared

Compared to the reign of Reich, he shared completely different and contrasting opinions with former offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, whose hefty price often the team had to pay.
