It is the dawn of a new day and the beginning of a new football season but some things just do not change. The fate of the Carolina Panthers appears to be cursed, the team underwent a head coaching change which gave fans a ray of hope for the 2024-25 season. However, the quarterback problems persist for the Panthers.

Bryce Young had a terrible showing in the Panthers’ week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The quarterback completed 13 of 30 throws and threw for 161 yards. It was his mistakes that cost Carolina dearly on offense as Young threw two interceptions and failed to throw for a touchdown.

The New Orleans Saints came prepared. They took advantage of every mistake and torched the Panthers 47-10 in the first game of the season. Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara feasted as the quarterback had 200 yards and 3 touchdowns while the running back had a 110-yard game with 1 touchdown.

Fans did not react kindly to Bryce Young’s horrendous outing

Last season, Bryce Young was thrust into a bad situation. An adamant owner and a head coach who was not the right fit for the team. Besides, his O-line was non-existent. This season, Young cannot afford to commit rookie mistakes and there is a chance that if he underwhelms this season, the Panthers may decide to move on from him.

The quarterback attracted the wrath of fans online after he threw his second interception. The Panthers’ defense came up short tonight for the team as well. At halftime, the defense had given up 30 points to the Saints.

Head coach Dave Canales took Young out of the game and sent veteran Andy Dalton towards the end. He will have some hard questions to answer as the Panthers cannot afford a repeat of last season, especially after hiring a new head coach. It seems unlikely that Young will be benched after one bad showing but he will need to come back with a better performance next game.
