Bryson DeChambeau will not be playing the weekend at the 2026 Masters Tournament. The LIV Golfer suffered a late collapse and missed the cut at the first major of the year. Many golf fans on social media would troll him for this.

The 2-time major champion came into this tournament on the back of successive wins on LIV Golf. After taking down Richard T. Lee in the playoff round at LIV Golf Singapore, he claimed his 5th win on the Saudi-backed circuit a week later in South Africa

He overcame Jon Rahm in another playoff round to win and go back-to-back. He was ranked 2nd in the LIV Golf individual standings just behind Rahm.

DeChambeau started with a par, bogey and birdie. It was the 11th hole where he lost control as he struggled to get out of the bunker. A triple bogey on this hole, followed by two bogeys and a birdie on the final three holes, saw him finish with a 4-over 76 score.

He was T56 after the first round, the worst first-round position in his 10 Masters starts. On Friday, he needed a massive performance to turn things around.

After a bogey on the first hole, he made a birdie on the third. A bogey on the 6th hole was followed with back-to-back birdies on holes 7 and 8.

He made another bogey on the 13th hole but made amends with a birdie on the par-5 15th hole. With the cutline at 4-over par, DeChambeau was just over it and needed just a bogey on the par-4 18th hole to make the cut.

After his tee shot failed to land on the greens, his 2nd shot landed in the bunker. He then failed in his chip shot to get out of the bunker. His 4th shot rolled down the hill, leaving him in trouble.

His chip attempt to find the hole rolled away. The 32-year-old’s double-bogey putt stopped just near the hole, leading to him tapping in from close range for a triple bogey. This saw him finish the tournament with a 6-over par score, 2 more than the cutline of 4-over.

Last year, he registered his best finish in this event at T5 despite slipping up and falling out of contention. His quest for the coveted green jacket will go into another year.

Social media reacts to Bryson DeChambeau missing the cut at Masters 2026

After his emotional win in South Africa, Bryson DeChambeau became one of the favorites to win the Masters Tournament this year. Things can change in a flash in golf. The golfer got a painful reminder of this as he missed the cut following a triple bogey on the final hole.

Golf fans on social media trolled him for this. A few of them had earlier slammed him for bringing in Kevin Hart as his caddie for the Par 3 contest. After his missed cut, one user wrote, “needs to quit LIV,” and said he needs to play some “real” golf.

Speaking of the Masters Tournament, defending champion Rory McIlroy carded a low score of 65 in the second round. He thus opened up a 6-shot lead, the largest in Masters Tournament history. This has put him on the verge of a historic back-to-back triumph.

Bryson DeChambeau not the only notable LIV Golfer to miss the cut at 2026 Masters

Bryson DeChambeau had the work cut out for him on Friday as he needed a strong bounce back following an opening round score of 76. He ultimately missed the cut with a collapse on the final hole. However, he is not the only notable name to miss the cut.

This year, 10 LIV Golfers made the trip to the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. After the first round, only one of them, Sergio Garcia, shot an even par score. The Spaniard was unable to follow this up and fired a score of 75 to finish the round T45 inside the cutline.

His countryman, Jon Rahm, also needed a huge performance. The 2023 winner bounced back from an opening round score of 78, with a 2-under par score of 70 on Friday to make the cut.

The one big name apart from DeChambeau who did not make the cut was Cameron Smith. The 2022 Open Championship winner struggled once again and failed to secure his status of playing on the weekend with scores of 74 and 77.

This was the 6th straight major where Smith missed the cut. Last year, he was the only player to miss the cut in all 4 majors. Following this development on Friday, he has now gone 6 major events without playing on the weekend.

The other LIV Golfers to miss the cut were 2-time champion Bubba Watson, Tom McKibbin and Carlos Ortiz. The latter had shot 80 in the first round. He did a bit better in the second round with a score of 75, but the damage was already done.
