Keegan Bradley sent shockwaves across the golf world this past Sunday when he emerged as the winner of the Travelers Championship. His victory led to many expressing him to be the playing captain of Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup. LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau has also expressed that and believes he should be part of the team.

Bradley, the 8-time PGA Tour winner, missed out on the 2023 Ryder Cup squad. He was not selected as one of the 6 captain’s picks and had to watch the action from his home. Team USA would end up getting hammered by Team Europe in Rome.

Following the big loss against their rivals, Team USA would let go of Zach Johnson as the captain of the team. Last year, Bradley was announced as the new captain.

Since that announcement, the golfer has been in fine form. He would claim his 7th PGA Tour win last year by winning the BMW Championship and has continued to be in top form this year.

In the final round on Sunday, Bradley came back from behind and stunned Tommy Fleetwood, a European golfer, to claim his 2nd Travelers Championship win in 3 years. Since that win, the question of him being the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963 has risen.

During the LIV Golf Dallas press conference, a reporter would ask DeChambeau whether Bradley should be a playing captain at the 2025 event. The 2-time major champion would say yes and backed him.

I personally think given how he’s played, I could confidently say he should be a part of the team for sure.

DeChambeau is currently in the top 6 rankings in the USA Ryder Cup standings. Last time out, he missed out on the event as he was not selected by Captain Johnson. This year, he would be hoping to be part of the team that will look to get the cup back and avenge the 2023 defeat.

While speaking with golf insiders Rich Lerner and Brandel Chamblee, regarding this topic after this win, the 2011 PGA Championship winner, expressed that his goal every time was to make the Ryder Cup team. However, this time he was happy with the captaincy role. Things though, have changed according to him.

This definitely changes things. I definitely wasn’t going to play if I didn’t win. I want to put my team in the best position to win, and if we get down to it and me playing is how that’s gonna be… I can’t even… I can barely talk. I don’t know what to say. I will play if I feel like it’ll help the team.

The last playing captain in the Ryder Cup was the late great Arnold Palmer. The 7-time major champion captained Team USA during the 1963 event, where he would lead Team USA to a 23-9 victory over Great Britian.

Speaking of Bradley, he is also the youngest Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. He has previously played in two Ryder Cups in 2012 and 2014. If he does play this year, it would mark just his 3rd appearance in this biennial event.

There is still a long time to decide the playing members of the team, though. At the moment, Bradley is participating in the 2025 Rocket Classic. The 39-year-old shot a score of 4-under 68 on Thursday and was T45th after the end of Round 1.
