Things have gotten a bit intense between Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy. A few days after the Masters Champion hit back at the LIV Golfer for his “chirp” comments, the 2-time major responded to him on Monday.

In July, during the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2, DeChambeau would issue a warning to McIlroy. The American golfer claimed that he would chirp in the ear of his European rival if he got the chance to do it in the Ryder Cup.

This came after the two of them were paired as the final group in the final round of the Masters Tournament. During the Masters Sunday, McIlroy kept his focus on the game and did not speak at all with DeChambeau during the entire round.

The Northern Irish golfer eventually went on to win the tournament and completed the career grand slam. Before the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, he looked back at this incident of him not speaking with his playing partner and expressed that he was not out there to be the “best mate” of DeChambeau.

This past weekend, McIlroy was asked about the comment of DeChambeau. The 5-time major champion sounded off on him and expressed that he only gets attention when he mentions someone else.

On Monday, DeChambeau was asked about his reaction to this comment from McIlroy. The Crushers GC captain simply claimed that he is hoping for some back-and-forth “banter” if his rival wants it.

All I’m trying to do is inspire kids on YouTube, and we’ve matched quite a few quite a big audience on YouTube, and I’m continuing to focus on that. Whatever Rory says and whatnot, I didn’t mean anything by it other than I’m excited. I hope we can have some good banter back and forth, and if not, if he wants to do what he’s doing, great, no problem.

Bryson DeChambeau told the reporters

When asked if there was a rivalry between him and McIlroy, the 32-year-old claimed that there is always a rivalry between golfers. He, however, did express that it is a bit heightened with the former World No.1.

Bryson DeChambeau gets called an “odd duck” of US Ryder Cup team by golf insider

With the 2025 Ryder Cup on the horizon, the final preparations for the massive showdown between Team Europe and Team USA have begun. Ahead of this, a golf insider took a dig at Bryson DeChambeau and called him an “odd duck” of the US roster.

While analyzing the U.S. team at the NBC’s pre-Ryder Cup show, insider Brandel Chamblee threw another shade at him. The 63-year-old was not pleased with DeChambeau speaking about his YouTube channel while responding to the comments of McIlroy.

He would call the 2-time major champion a “captain’s nightmare” and claimed it would be hard for Keegan Bradley to blend him with the others.

No doubt he’s one hell of a golfer, no doubt he has his moments and generosity with fans, I’ve heard about it. But he’s an odd duck when he’s trying to blend in with the team. And he has so many potential bulletin board mistakes, and I think he would be a captain’s nightmare.

Brandel Chamblee said regarding Bryson DeChambeau

It is not the first time Chamblee has taken aim at DeChambeau. In August, he expressed that the golfer will be representing Saudi Arabia instead of the USA at the Ryder Cup due to his ties with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) backed LIV Golf.

DeChambeau was one of the popular names of the PGA Tour who left them to play on LIV Golf. Since then, Chamblee has often made some strong comments regarding him, his league mates and his current tour.
