23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace was involved in a post-race tussle with Alex Bowman last week at Chicago. While the No:48 HMS Chevy driver was celebrating his win during the cool-down lap, the No:23 Camry door slammed him. Wallace was taking revenge on the involving the duo earlier in the race the ruined his chances of having a good finish.
NASCAR didn’t like how Bubba Wallace responded in the situation as Alex Bowman’s window net was down and seat belt of, making the incident dangerous. So, they gave him a hefty $50,000 fine. The Toyota driver has addressed the media about it ahead of the Pocono race. He admitted that the fine was the best thing happened to him as he has an issue with his persona that needs to be addressed.

Penalty was probably the best thing that’s happened to me. I’ve been miserable for years, walking around with a persona that I’m not proud of. I need to apologize to a lot of people, especially that are close to me…Bubba Wallace told Fox Sports.
The 23XI driver went on admit that he was frustrated and not focused on the right thing at the moment. Bubba Wallace also claimed that the bump he gave Bowman wasn’t as hard as many deemed it was. He admitted that that his hard work to be better at road course not being fruitful and the incident in the race made him feel like he entitled to show frustration but chose the wrong time to do it.
Just frustrated and trying way too hard and not focused on the right things. The door slam, the bump that Bowman said wasn’t hard at all… When that’s all ripped away, you feel some time of entitlement to show your frustration. Did I time it wrong? Sure, 100%. His window net was down and his seat belts were off, not an ideal situation.Bubba Wallace added.
Denny Hamlin confirms that 23XI Racing might not appeal the fine
Joe Gibbs Racing veteran driver and the co-owner of 23XI Racing, Denny Hamlin addressed the situation. He admitted that it was a judgement call from NASCAR, and they might also be responding to the social media uproar. But regardless the team might not appeal the decision and will urge Wallace to learn from it.

I think it just being live right there and everyone seeing it probably caused a little bit more of a social media uproar which they then responded to that. So, I think from the team’s standpoint I don’t believe there will be any appeals or anything like that. I think it’s just a learning moment that you try not to repeat.Denny Hamlin said.
The future Hall of Famer and his team might probably have chosen the right decision not to appeal the verdict from NASCAR. Its most probably won’t get them any positive result. It would be interesting to see how the fine would change Bubba Wallace.
