Arsenal winger and goal-getter Bukayo Saka was visibly limping in the final minutes against Aston Villa. The Gunners lost 2-0 to the Villans as hopes of a Premier League title now hang in the balance. However, star man Saka remained relatively silent in the defeat as his performance was outlined by four shots off target.
Fans noticed how the player allegedly resorted to faking an injury to deflect criticism and pointed out the same following the game. Saka’s biggest chance of the game came in the 41st minute, when he tried to curl the ball past Emiliano Martinez. However, his shot went agonizingly wide of the goal as Arsenal remained goalless throughout the game.
Saka has been impressive for the Gunners this season, having scored an impressive 18 goals while setting up another 12. However, the player has suffered a significant dip in form as of late, having only scored once in his last six Premier League games.
Arsenal will desperately be needing the player to find his shooting boots if they are to reclaim top spot in the League in the upcoming games.
Fans react to Bukayo Saka ‘faking’ an injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss
Bukayo Saka has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season. However, his performances in the past didn’t stop him from coming under criticism from fans and the opposition as well.
Sunday night’s game saw Saka limp towards the end of the game as a fan commented that him doing the same was inevitable. Another joked about adding the same to the long list of Saka limping compilations.
A fan even came up with a name for the same, stating that it was the Saka trademark limp. A fan swore that it was second nature for Saka to limp after dropping a ‘disasterclass’.
Phil Foden fans had a field day with the clip, as many said that comparing the two was plainly disrespectful to Foden. Foden, who faced Aston Villa at the start of the month scored a hat-trick in contrast to Saka’s goalless display.
A fan posted Lionel Messi‘s iconic walk after being injured against Real Madrid in El Clasico. He used it to mock Saka, who made a poor imitation of the same.
Arsenal’s loss saw many congratulating Manchester City, saying they will win the title now, and laughed at the Gunners for ‘bottling’ yet another title. As it stands, Arsenal have fallen to second place while Man City are top with 73 points.
