The Rogers Center in Toronto, formerly Skydome, bore witness to John Cena selling out to The Rock, thus turning heel for the first time since 2003 in the process. To accompany both of these men, rapper Travis Scott was also brought in for the segment. During Cody Rhodes‘ callous beatdown courtesy of Cena and Rock, Scott also got his hands dirty.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently weighed in on the rapper’s unrestrained swing at Rhodes’ face, reportedly busting his eardrum. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the 59-year-old didn’t hold back at all. Ray called for La Flame’s jaw to be shattered and wired shut. The former one-half of the Dudleyz took offense with Travis’ slap that was heard around the world.
It not only ruptured Cody’s eardrum but also left the Undisputed WWE Champion with a black eye. It was on display this past Friday on SmackDown when the ex-AEW EVP made his way out to the ring. Rhodes mentioned during his promo how hard it was to explain the scar to his 4-year-old daughter, Liberty.

Cody said he wasn’t ready to have that conversation at all, so he lied, claiming he’d run into a wall. Bully hoped that the $80 million-worth artist has a receipt coming his way courtesy of The American Nightmare.

As you can imagine, that got all kinds of heat backstage, with people noting that Scott shouldn’t have been out there nor put in that position in the first… pic.twitter.com/e2WzQbjBof
Scott’s involvement in that industry-changing angle last Saturday wasn’t taken too kindly within WWE. According to Dave Meltzer, the FE!N producer’s actions had everyone in the back questioning the need for his presence out there.
WWE does have big plans for Travis Scott despite Cody Rhodes discourse
WWE heavily featured Travis Scott during its Netflix premiere of Raw back on January 6 at the Intuit Dome. He joined Jey Uso during his dazzling entrance while smoking a blunt amid a packed house in Los Angeles.

His working relations with the company were further solidified by his involvement in John Cena’s WWE-altering heel turn at the Elimination Chamber. It’s worth noting that Scott’s friends with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who serves on the Board of Directors for TKO.
He was asked about Travis’ in-ring future with WWE during the EC press conference. The Great One, while responding to whether Scott could potentially team up with him and Cena in the future, deemed it as an actual possibility.

Shortly after that, a report from Fightful Select suggested that Trav had been taking up wrestling classes. Discussions have been held regarding Scott stepping into the ring for WWE. If he does so, he’d join Bad Bunny in the list of singer-songwriters to have wrestled for the Stamford-based promotion.
Even though the hardcore wrestling audience unanimously stands against Scott’s further association with WWE, the company is banking on the rapper’s mainstream appeal to tap into the pop-culture fans.
