Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Mönchengladbach Player Rating as Leverkusen claim an outstanding 4-0 victory
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
Gerardo Seoane’s Bayer Leverkusen had an outstanding match-up against Borussia Mönchengladbach as they went on to defeat the men in white by a 4-0 margin. It was smiles all-around in the Leverkusen dugout as they clinch a magnificent victory courtesy of a top notch performance by the eleven players.
Borussia were off to the worst possible starts to their encounter as the Euro 2020’s goalkeeping sensation Yann Sommer conceded an own goal goal in the 3rd minute of the match itself. His horrendous mistake gave Leverkusen an undue advantage and Patrik Schick capitalised on it and followed it up with a remarkable finish in the back of the net to make it 2-0.
After a fine first half performance, Moussa Diaby and Nadiem Amiri followed up with two brilliant goals to make it a 4-0 win and a humiliating loss being faced by Mönchengladbach. This commanding win helped Leverkusen climb up the table to claim the second spot with four points. This victory couldn’t have been possible without the contribution of the entire team, right from the defense to the attack unit. With that being said, let’s have a look at their performance of this match-up.
Bayer Leverkusen
Lukáš Hrádecký (GK) (8.7/10) : Lukáš had a fantastic day at work. He made some of the most remarkable saves to help Leverkusen stick around with their clean sheet. He made six saves off which five were inside the box, almost each from the pointblank range. The captain led from the front and made a statement by putting up a remarkable show with his gloves.
Mitchel Bakker (7.7/10) : Mitchel was an integral part of the defensive unit and handled the right side with ease. He managed to defend and create immense trouble for the opposing forwards. However, in that process, he earned himself a yellow card. His crucial assist to Moussa Diaby helped Leverkusen get their third goal of the match.
Jonathan Tah (7.1/10) : Jonathan had a wonderful time out in the middle as he was to be witnessed running around trying to keep the ball away from their box. He had a 94% accuracy with his passing while he was a tough nut to crack when it came to ground duels.
Odilon Kossounou (7.7/10) : Odilon was the best among the other defenders. His iron clad defensive techniques helped him clear several chances by the opposition and it was impossible to beat him at Ariel duels.
Jeremie Frimpong (6.9/10) : Jeremie had a decent game but had a tough luck at holding possession as he gave away 13 balls. He did win four duels and played a massive supporting role to the other defenders.
Exequiel Palacios (7.1/10) : The gallant midfielder was playing on the wing. He had a decent game but didn’t create as many chances for the attackers.
Charles Aránguiz (6.7/10) : Charles found himself to be subbed in the 84th minute. However, he contributed throughout the game with making the most accurate passes than anyone in the midfield. He helped keep possession that led to the scripting of the 4-0 success story.
Paulinho (6.8/10) : Paulinho had a tough match as compared to other forwards as he was challenged several times and he failed to win the Ariel challenges on couple of occasions.
Kerem Demirbay (7.2/10) : Demirbay was one of the better forwards in the game who was excellent with his passing and pace. His skills on-field helped outfox the opponent on several occasions.
Moussa Diaby (8.2/10) : Diaby had the best time on the field with a goal and an assist to his name. His goal in the 55th minute gave Leverkusen an inevitable 3-0 lead in the match-up. He did lose possession at several occasions but made up for the same with his excellent footwork in the opponent’s box.
Patrik Schick (7.2/10) : Patrik found an opportunity as there was added pressure early on after the own goal. He managed to outfox the defence and doubled the lead in the eighth minute itself. He tried to go at goal on three occasions and was on target on every attempt but was denied each time.
Substitutes:
Nadiem Amiri (7.1/10) : The super substitute had the best time on pitch as he walked in the 68th minute and scored a brilliant goal in the 87th to give Leverkusen a 4-0 win.
Robert Andrich (6.8/10) : Robert replaced Palacios in the 68th minute and did a decent job with some good passes and making an important clearance.
Florian Wirtz (7/10) : Wirtz walked in with just nine minutes of play left. However, it is hard to contribute in such a short span but Florian made a beautiful assist to help Amiri bag the fourth goal for Leverkusen.
Joel Pohjanpalo (6.5/10) : Replacing Schick in the 81st, Joel managed to belt an Ariel duel while committing a foul. He didn’t have much to contribute with just nine minutes of game play.
Borussia Mönchengladbach

Sommer walked into this encounter after a remarkable Euro 2020 season for his national side. However, he faced a humiliating defeat against the Leverkusen forwards after conceding four goals including an own goal by himself.
Joseph Scally (5.9/10)
Scally didn’t have the night he imagined to as he failed on duel battles on multiple occasions. His errors and lack of coordination resulted in the team conceding several goals.
Nico Elvedi (6.7/10)
In a rather disappointing match, Nico Elvedi was the best among other defenders in the team. He was dead accurate with his passes while he made life difficult for Leverkusen forwards to get past him.
Matthias Ginter (6.4/10)
Matthias was a busy defender as the opposing team forwards challenged him on multiple occasions. He lacked the support from his other teammates resulting against their favour.
Stefan Lainer (6.5/10)
Setfan faced an injury and was ruled out of the game earlier than he could’ve imagined. He won a couple of ground duels but couldn’t make much of an impact in limited time frame.
Florian Neuhaus (6.5/10)
Florian had a great time on pitch but with the constant goals being scored by their opponents had certainly demoralised him and the team. Although, he had a shy at goal and was on target but was denied by the keeper.
Christoph Kramer (5.9/10)
Kramer lost possession on more than 13 occasions and also found it very difficult to win balls against the opponent players. He had a really tough day on-field.
Jonas Hofmann (7.1/10)
Hofmann was one of the better things for Mönchengladbach in this encounter as he was more competitive than any of his teammates. He went for goal on two occasions from which one was completely off target while the other being denied.
Lars Stindl (5.8/10)
Captain failed to set an example for the rest as he himself had a tough time creating chances for his attackers. He neither won duels and found difficulty in completing passes to gain possession.
Alassane Pléa (6.7/10)
Alassane failed to capitalise on any passes he received from his teammates. He was right up there with his captain but the lack of coordination cost them the match.
Marcus Thuram (6.5/10)
The striker only managed to play for twenty minutes before being taken off the pitch due to injury. Nothing went right for the team in today’s game.

Patrick Herrmann (6.3/10) : Coming in the 63rd minute, Patrick didn’t have much to contribute as he hardly made any passes and failed in winning defensive duels.
Hannes Wolf (6.6/10) : An early substitution brought in Hannes and he further played for seventy minutes. In that he had a decent game while he struggled at challenging the opponent attackers.
