Burnley puts the final nail in the relegation coffin as Fulham goes down
Fulham will go down in the history books of relegation after Burnley were able to knockout in the most crucial game of the season. For the first time in the history of the English Premier League, all three times are relegated with three games remaining to play in the top-flight. Sean Dyche’s men were ruthless against fellow relegation contenders on Monday. The win has secured Burnley’s spot for the upcoming English Premier League season as well.
Before the game against Burnley, the Cottagers needed a victory to save the blushes and live one more day to fight. Even a draw could have allowed them to fight one more day. However, Ashley Westwood and Mark Wood’s strikes in the first half were the final nails in Fulham’s coffin. Scott Parker was in disdain at the full time whereas Sean Dyche was in a happy mood.
What Scott Parker had to say in the post-match after Burnley relegated Fulham?
The gaffer of Fulham, Scott Parker was utterly disappointed after they lost to Burnley due to poor defending in the first half. The manager asked apology from his fans after the club failed to stay up in the top-flight. Scott Parker said:
I'm bitterly disappointed, I'm hurt. There's no words that I can really put together, other than I'm gutted that we've not managed to be successful this year. In between both boxes this year, we've had our moments and looked a very, very good side. Where we've fallen short at times is the other side of that, and tonight again defensively, the two goals are poor goals
With the win, Burnley go 14th on the points table with three games to go whereas Fulham will look to end their season on high before re-grouping for the next season. West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are the two sides that are going down just after one season of their promotion.
