Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark shed early-season struggles to become the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year. Along with that, she ended up on the All-WNBA 1st team, which practically made her one of the best players from the 2024 season.

Such accolades, along with the several records she set as a rookie, had many believing she was going to step up this season. Clark opened the season well, but a quad strain has her sidelined for two weeks. In that time, her team has lost more games than they won.

The league currently has forwards or centers dominating the MVP leaderboard. Clark has not had the chance to make her mark yet, but if the early-season stats are to be analyzed, they should offer some hope. At least South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley believes she will be an all-time great.

Caitlin will go down as probably one of the best players to ever grace the league. And she’s going to probably do it in half of the time that it takes any other great player…. Her passing ability, her court vision is second to non.

Dawn Staley said to Sports Illustrated

The Hall of Famer believes Caitlin Clark‘s ability to shoot, pass, and rebound makes her a legitimate triple threat. Staley claimed that it is rare for guards to be good in all facets. The 55-year-old believes that the Fever star will be on the GOAT pedestal sooner than many other players have been able to do in the past.

Caitlin Clark’s stardom leads Fever store to be audited

If Dawn Staley’s words were to come true, Caitlin Clark could spark a growth in the WNBA that could transform the very foundation of the sport. Already, some teams have seen their valuations rise exponentially. But to really show how fast the growth is, Indiana-based journalist Travonne Edwards revealed this to Bomani Jones:

The quota has been reached for team sales in the store to a point where they got audited.

Bomani Jones added that it must have been surreal for a store to be audited, as their sales numbers did not make sense. An auditing team had to make sure those numbers were legit. Going by the long line of fans waiting outside the official Indiana Fever store, this was probably inevitable.

Caitlin Clark to wait for one more week to rehab

Clark sitting on the sidelines is probably not what her legions of fans expected to see. They want to cheer for her as she either shoots a logo three or delivers a blinding-fast assist, her game excites them. However, the 23-year-old is managing a sensitive injury, and she clarified to reporters where she stands.

I’ll be re-evaluated this weekend, so I’ll miss this weekends game. After that, it’s day-by-day, and see how I feel, and just kind of turn to the medical staff and what they think. I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress and I feel good. But I’m not going to rush it back, its not worth it.

Caitlin Clark said

Clark made it clear that she was going to miss the game against arch-rival Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky this weekend. The point guard is not sure if she will be able to play against Atlanta on June 10th, as that depends on the evaluation of her quad this weekend.

She will likely miss that game or play at most a few minutes, as the Indiana Fever does not want to rush her back, especially when that injury could be aggravated. They need her to stay healthy for the rest of the season.
