Caitlin Clark and Fever’s first major addition in free agency gets Hall of Famer’s co-sign
Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever seemingly lost out on a lot of quality players in the first days of WNBA free agency.
3-time champion Natasha Howard joins Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever
The focus of the Indiana Fever this offseason was to find and recruit quality free agents who can be a great addition to their young team. Knowing how Caitlin Clark and her teammates play, they needed an experienced player who can also play at their pace.
However, one by one, most free agents joined other teams. First it was Kelsey Plum who chose to join Cameron Brink, and the Los Angeles Sparks in a trade that saw Jewell Loyd join the Las Vegas Aces. Then the Phoenix Suns traded for Alyssa Thomas.
In that trade, they sent back a player to the Connecticut Sun who could have been effective playing alongside the Fever’s superstar point guard. Then Brittney Griner joined the Atlanta Dream and slowly it seemed as if there were not many options left for the Fever to sign.
They were looking for the perfect fit to pair alongside Clark, Aliyah Boston and the recently resigned Kelsey Mitchell. Earlier today, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou announced the franchise’s first major free agency acquisition in former Dallas Wings forward Natasha Howard. When talking about this addition, Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo said.

That experience Rebecca Lobo referred to is three WNBA championships in eleven seasons in the league. Caitlin Clark and her young teammates had their first playoff experience last season. This experience that Howard brings in will be crucial in the latter stages.
Caitlin Clark’s All-Star teammate excited for Natasha Howard acquisition
It seems the Indiana Fever thought long and hard about who they need to pair around their young squad. Knowing what Natasha Howard brings as a player, the franchise brought her in to completement and uplift their young core. Seeing this news, Aliyah Boston had this reaction.
The ‘Bow Bow Bow’ is the Fever center’s usual victory cry. That suggests she is as excited about the addition of the former Defensive Player of the Year. The addition will give Boston a lot more room to operate around the basket.
Yall know what’s coming…. BOW BOW BOW let’s get it https://t.co/ackTP9S61x

Howard is a floor spacer who can double down as an elite help defender. Both qualities that will help Boston take the next step in her career. Now Caitlin Clark and her teammates need another complimentary veteran to complete their championship aspirations.
