Caitlin Clark is scheduled to return to play for her Indiana Fever in their next game against the New York Liberty. After missing five games due to her quad strain, the point guard has recovered enough to return to the court and dazzle fans.

The superstar has continued her trend of first dazzling in her tunnel fits, and then wearing one of the many custom PE edition shoes of Kobe Bryant‘s lineup of signature sneakers from Nike. Earlier this season, she wore a custom Rookie of the Year edition in one of her games.

For fans, though, the most important of her PEs is the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Indiana Fever”. That is the only one of her custom PEs that is supposed to hit the market on June 30th. It is supposed to sell for $190, far more than A’ja Wilson‘s signature shoe, the A’One.

However, there are a few pieces available online, with some going for more than $2000. Kobe 5s are already popular shoes among basketball fans. But this one has a special colorway and, along with Clark’s name, makes it desirable.

Surprisingly, Alex Caruso of the Oklahoma City Thunder wore those sneakers in two games of the NBA Finals. This caught the attention of many fans who wanted to get their hands on them. So was Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who called out Nike for not giving him a pair.

Even though fans have to wait until 2026 to get their hands on her signature shoe, many sneaker analysts expect this Kobe 5 Protro Indiana Fever to blow up sales charts, even beating out Wilson’s A’One despite being a signature shoe.

Caitlin Clark’s return to action should help WNBA accelerate its growth

Sales of Caitlin Clark’s custom PEs will give Nike and the rest of the world an idea of how popular the 23-year-old is. If she could sell out her Indiana Fever jerseys in 15 minutes, these shoes will see massive demand.

The league did not expect the superstar to continue fueling a growth of this level in her sophomore season. Some expected the interest to tail out, whereas it has been anything but that. The league saw its average viewership ratings drop by half as its ‘golden goose’ sat on the sidelines.

Her return to action will be a sigh of relief as viewership numbers had grown over her rookie season. Based on that, the WNBA has signed on another media rights deal with Ion, which is rumored to be worth $800 million over 11 years.

More importantly, her return will coincide with the ending of the NBA Finals. Basketball fans can shift to watch her as well as other WNBA games once the Larry O’Brien Trophy is lifted. That can give a boost that the league hopes will lead them to secure more sponsors down the line.

Caitlin Clark is WNBA Hall of Famer’s favorite current player

There is a legion of fans and analysts who claim Caitlin Clark is their favorite player. Be it her style of play or the humble manner in which she carries herself, she has managed to become the most popular women’s basketball star in the world.

I love her intensity. She still has so much development ahead of her. But her smarts, the way she reads the game, passes, shoots, can get to the basket, change of pace…. Just what an athlete. I am just so impressed.

Lauren Jackson said to ESPN

This was WNBA champion and Hall of Famer Lauren Jackson, who had a wide smile on her face while she was talking about the Indiana Fever guard. The 3-time league MVP added that Clark is doing all this despite having the weight of the world on her shoulders. That is a lot coming from someone who played alongside Hall of Famer Sue Bird.
