Since 2024, the Indianapolis Colts have had a new superfan in the form of Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark. Last season, there was not much to cheer about, but this season, their blistering start has excited the WNBA star as well as the state’s sports fans.

Indiana fans were eager to witness the start of a new era, hoping that Clark, along with Pacers’ star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, and Colts’ young quarterback Anthony Richardson, would bring the state sporting joy.

Unfortunately, both the Fever star and Haliburton could not continue their mission after injuries curtailed their seasons. Richardson, on the other hand, had a disastrous campaign last season, which threw up a lot of question marks.

That continued into this season after he was demoted to QB2, promoting the much-maligned Daniel Jones to become the starter. He delivered in their season-opener against the Miami Dolphins, where his steady play helped the Colts blow the Dolphins out of their arena.

Their second game against the Denver Broncos was building up to be a true test of their caliber. Jones and his teammates, however, managed to continue their scoring streak on every drive until midway through the second quarter.

That helped the Broncos take over the lead, which they held until .03 seconds were left in the game. In the 4th quarter, they needed a massive 68-yard run from Jonathan Taylor to bring them back into scoring positions.

Jonathan Taylor is like that.. Big win for the colts !!!

This was Caitlin Clark‘s reaction after that massive run, which helped the Colts go on to score a field goal and then set up another in the dying seconds.

Broncos’ penalty gifts Colts second win in a row

The second part of Clark’s tweet reflects her excitement when she saw what transpired in the final 3 seconds of the game. After Jonathan Taylor lost 2 yards on a 3rd and 7, the Colts had no choice but to kick it.

Undrafted second-year kicker Spencer Shrader was perfect until the game-deciding kick. This was going to be a long 60-yard attempt, and that proved too much for the Indiana-born star, whose kick sailed wide to the right.

Denver Broncos fans inside Lucas Oil Stadium roared as they were ecstatic that their team finally won its first game of the season. However, there was a flag on the play.

Upon review, it was deemed that their defensive tackle, Eyioma Uwazurike, pushed long snapper Luke Rhodes down so that his teammate, Dondrea Tillman, could gain leverage and launch high enough to try and stop the kick.

Officials slapped the Broncos with a 15-yard penalty, which helped Spencer Shrader walk up to the 42-yard line to attempt another kick. This time, the shorter distance helped as his 100% streak continued. More importantly, it gives the Indianapolis Colts a stellar start to their season.

Colts’ trio of owners takes hands-on charge after Jim Irsay’s death

For 28 years, the Indianapolis Colts operated under Jim Irsay. After his untimely death, many wondered how the franchise would move forward after the onus was now passed on to his three daughters.

Oldest Carlie Irsay-Gordon, middle daughter Casey Foyt, and youngest daughter Kalen Jackson had experience working in the franchise, but running it is an entirely different matter.

It seems the daughters have taken matters into their hands and are working from the ground up to ensure they are on top of everything. A video clip from this game against the Broncos shows CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon standing near the team with a notepad and pen in hand.

She was scribbling notes while wearing earphones, apparently listening to all the play calls and other information being relayed from the team’s performance booth to the coaches below and the players.

This hands-on approach might be the best way to learn as much about the franchise, the way they play football, as well as the inner workings of a team. Probably then she and her sisters can make informed decisions.
