- Caitlin Clark's popularity has surged, positioning her as a prominent figure in basketball and women's sports.
- A recent episode of Jeopardy featured a clue about Iowa declaring February 22, 2024, as Caitlin Clark Day.
- Clark's performance for Team USA has faced challenges, but she is expected to play a key role in upcoming games.
The fame and fan following Caitlin Clark has earned has led many to suggest that she might be the de facto ‘face of basketball’ and of women’s sports.
Even though she has not had the same level of success since going pro, more and more fans know her than most of the new generation of basketball stars across both the WNBA and the NBA.
In fact, her popularity has been such that many wanted Clark to be the one driving the CBA negotiations between the players’ union and the league’s top executives.
Even Michael Jordan‘s agent wanted her to be the front line for her peers. The WNBA’s top brass might not want to give her credit for drawing millions of new fans to the game, but a recent episode of Jeopardy confirmed what many have been talking about.
The final Jeopardy clue was about Iowa declaring February 22nd, 2024, as Caitlin Clark Day. The first contestant suggested incorrectly that it was tennis star Coco Gauff.
Luke Henson, the second contestant who had won $8,400 so far, guessed the right answer to double his winnings after wagering all but $2 from his original pot.
we know the answer 😉

With that prize money, he moved to first place, overtaking the third contestant who wagered $5,999 on the name Collins, probably referring to tennis player Danielle Collins.
This was a major departure from the time when all three contestants could not think of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, even though host Ken Jennings went through every one of his accomplishments.
This proves that Caitlin Clark is much more popular and that women’s sports are also popular enough to usurp men’s sports despite them earning millions more.
Caitlin Clark’s baking skills get huge props from Sophie Cunningham
Caitlin Clark’s basketball skills, along with her endeavors in golf and other competitive sports, are well-documented. Videos and pictures of such experiments are littered on social media.
But what fans do not know is her skill in the kitchen. Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham believes Clark’s skills are mastering the oven to churn out sweet dishes.
She can bake. I will give her that credit, and her cookies are amazing. But, how often she bakes, is not enough for me, I need it more frequently.
Sophie Cunningham told Sports Illustrated
The guard, who has become one of Caitlin Clark‘s best friends and teammates, believes that the point guard’s cookies are amazing. However, Cunningham wants the 24-year-old to bake more.

She laid out demands such as a red velvet cake, an Angel food cake, and an apple pie, amongst others. Currently, there is no scope for Cunningham getting her requests fulfilled as the guard is away in Puerto Rico on USA Basketball duty.
Caitlin Clark and Team USA set to take on Italy next
Caitlin Clark’s senior USA Basketball was something that excited her fans after she finished the game with an impressive double-double. In the next game against Puerto Rico, she could not replicate that form.

Not only did she struggle with just two assists, but she also could not find her shooting form, draining just 33.3% of her attempts. Admittedly, the superstar has only just resumed playing basketball after eight months.
But when playing for USA Basketball, only the best is expected. Maybe their next game against Italy will give Clark a better chance at showcasing her skills.
In the previous game, the constant reshuffles were stunting Team USA’s fluid movements, as head coach Kara Lawson is trying to figure out her best combinations. Maybe she will give Clark a bigger role in the next game to challenge her credentials as their best option at point guard.
