Caitlin Clark and Fever teammates REJOICE as Stephanie White is named as new head coach
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever get a new head coach in Stephanie White after they let go of Christie Sides earlier.
Stephanie White's appointment as Indiana Fever head coach brought out some reactions from Caitlin Clark and her teammates
Caitlin Clark helped lead Indiana Fever to the playoffs for the first time in seven years. But that was not for the top hierarchy as they chose to part ways with head coach Christie Sides. Now a few days later, they hire Stephanie White, who was leading her previous team to oust Clark from the playoffs.
But that was her doing her job on a Connecticut Sun team packed with superstars. After they exited the playoffs in the Semi-Finals, White wanted to return home. That is, the 47-year-old has spent the majority of her life in Indiana. Be it playing basketball in high school or with Purdue University, or then playing for and subsequently coaching the Fever.
All of the above would seem like a great movie script. But the actual reactions from players was evident when Clark, Aliyah Boston, Lexie Hull and NaLyssa Smith, reacted instantly on social media to the appointment.
To the uninformed, there are a few factors in play here. For one, Christie Sides was liked by the players, but not all. Her decisions left them frustrated on numerous occasions. Most notable of them was Smith, who went to the extent of removing all Fever-related posts in her bio, once the season was over.
we have named Stephanie White as our next head coach.

But once Sides was gone, she reinstated her Fever credentials on her socials. The reactions from her, whose game had fallen off under Sides, and the team point towards a possible celebration among them. So did other players who barely saw playing time, as they now get a proven coach to lead them.
Stephanie White was always in favor of Caitlin Clark and her game
Throughout this past WNBA season, many coaches were caught not appreciating what Caitlin Clark brought to the game. Stephanie White, on the other hand, was appreciative of what the rookie was doing for women’s basketball. She also mentioned on several occasions that she admires the 22-year-old’s game.
The Indiana Fever have one of the best young cores in the WNBA. Under Christie Sides, half of them did not even get a fair chance to show their play. On the other hand, White was brought on the bench throughout the regular season, despite having an All-Star starting five. This will help if the Fever are to take it up a notch.
With the team set to draft at No. 8 in the first round, they will also have a chance to draft an impactful rookie. This could help them as they will lose one player in the upcoming WNBA expansion draft for the Golden State Valkyries.
The Indiana Fever will look at surrounding Caitlin Clark with the best talent possible. After a rookie season finishing with a short playoff run, the only way forward is up. Now Stephanie White will give her inputs to advisor Linn Dunn and President Kelly Krauskopf to complete that roster.
