“I wish,” Caitlin Clark gets honest about veterans giving her advice in games

Caitlin Clark revealed she does not receive advice from the veterans

There were high expectations for Caitlin Clark after she was drafted as the first overall pick. Considering her incredible impact on the college level, the star was expected to have a similar influence in the WNBA as well. However, Clark did not receive the best welcome from the veterans and struggled during her first few games.

To start her rookie season, Caitlin Clark was attacked with intense physical defense by her seniors. Later, there were many incidents where the veterans showed their disapproval of Clark considering her tremendous fame in her debut season. This resulted in Clark not receiving the required guidance from other WNBA players. The star gave an honest answer in the press conference after getting asked about the best advice she has received.

Nobody gives me advice in games. I wish.

With her on-court difficulties, Clark has also struggled with the off-court treatment by the critics. Keeping her game and performance aside, many have even thrown jibes at the star’s sexuality and race. The Indiana Fever’s guard certainly had a lot to face by being in the spotlight. Hence, advice from a more experienced player would undoubtedly be valuable for Clark.

Clark was speaking after the Fever’s second consecutive loss. However, the star has been on a great run despite the defeats. Clark is breaking records almost during each game with her unreal shooting and playmaking abilities. The 22-year-old seems fine regardless of not getting any support from the veterans of the WNBA.

Magic Johnson told Caitlin Clark to call Larry Bird for advice

With Clark, Angel Reese has also been one of the main focuses among the rookies this season. The duo’s rivalry has grabbed the attention as many have compared them to the great Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Johnson himself admitted the comparisons as fair.

The Lakers legend showed support to both the players and even told Clark’s teammates to step up and give her a helping hand. Johnson also provided some advice to Clark himself but felt that another player would be more fit for the job. The veteran advised Clark to contact Bird.

Let me give Caitlin some advice. Call Larry Bird, ask him for advice… I think he could give her great advice on how to handle these situations because he went through it himself.

Johnson is right as Bird would be able to guide her considering the Indiana background and their similar mindset. It seems that Clark should approach NBA players as the WNBA veterans have not been helpful. It will be interesting to see if Clark turns to Bird as per Johnson’s advice and receives a response.
